Re: Something is wrong with my eyelids :(
I have had Blepharitis for years and I too have to scrub my eyelids with baby shampoo periodically to prevent buildup of oil. However, I have worn make-up for years and have never had these problems with my eyelids until recently. I've tried everything, changing the makeup brands, changing the brushes to apply the makeup, changing the removal products of the makeup and still get this every other week or so. What gives?

Ugh! Your still having issues? I think about your post often while I apply my mascara. I remember having ingrown eyelashes I had to tweeze out because I would end up with a hot red eyelid and usually I would smear neosporine on my lids over night, Hope you feel better soon.

Re: Something is wrong with my eyelids :(
when it comes to the eyes, I'd be careful in applying even OTCs like hydrocortisone and other seemingly "harmless" OTCs. If your condition doesn't improve in another week, it may be best to see an opthalmologist or your PCP and get appropriate treatment and advice.
If it is simple dermatitis where the irritant is removed and your condition improves, it may be cheaper to just toss all your eye make up items and start with all new ones.
I wish you well.

Re: Something is wrong with my eyelids :(
All removal products you've tried may have a common ingredient that is the irritant. I highly recommend trying an oil; I love almond oil for this unless you have a nut allergy then olive or grapeseed is readily available. It is great for full face cleansing even oily skin and sometimes lessens oil production.
I know I mentioned brushes before; have you tried the synthetic taklon or change over to foam applicators?
It may just have to do with allergens in the air and that is the effect those have on your system. Quercetin and Alfalfa are good natural options if you don't care to use otc pharmaceuticals.

Hey Funnyface -
Thanks for the suggestions.... who sells the oil that you use to remove the makeup from your face?
Any particular brand of makeup brushes that you recommend that have that type?

Re: Something is wrong with my eyelids :(
iHerb has a good price on the Almond Oil. If you use my code HEB636 you'll get $5 off your order if you are a first time customer. As far as grapeseed you can find that at WalMart, Grocer, Healthfood store reasonably priced. Also Garden of Wisdom online store has a plethora of oils in smaller sizes and shipping is reasonable and the owner is fabulous.
Talkon Brushes~EcoGlo is found at RiteAid and other stores or I would suggest online small make up companies like Lucy Minerals, Coastalscents or The Conservatorie.

Re: Something is wrong with my eyelids :(
After switching to a more expensive, moisture-rich face cream ($40 instead of $5 at the grocery store stuff), I have not had anymore problems with my eyelids so I guess the old saying is true - sometimes you really get what you pay for.

Re: Something is wrong with my eyelids :(
Glad you found the base of your problem..
$40 WOW but definitely worth the investment. Yes I do hear you on the you do get what you pay for. I like a good quality hand cream during the winter but I seem to have pretty good luck finding deals on the good stuff. Hope you can find a good deal on that $40 cream and glad it is working for you :)
