What is wrong with us!!!

Im sitting here wondering what is so wrong with my family, that the Local Hospital knows all of us by First name and no longer needs to see my insurance card because they remember the number by heart.

I am so emotionally and Physically exhausted, I can not begin to describe it. The Last 11 Years have dragged me through the mud , so many times. That I don't know what to do anymore.

What causes one family to have so many Emergency Medical Problems? Your sitting here thinking , ahh it cant be that bad can it?

My Immediate Family has had 16 surgeries in the last 8 Years.
Thats me and my children only.
I account for 7 of those Surgery's. 2 Were c-sections, 4 more were Gyno surgeries ending in a Hysterectomy at 26 and the Final one was a Spine Surgery because I developed a Rare Syndrome called Cauda Equina Syndrome. But it being rare is not enough for the Unlucky angel who watches over us. Im only the 2nd known person to Develop Cauda Equina Syndrome and Conus Medullaris Syndrome , and I managed to get it at t12-l1 , The hardest place on the body to operate. Ive also Broken, my shoulder(car accident) , hand (wrestling the hubby) and ankle(angry walnut) 2 years apart almost exactly.

My 5 year old has had 7 surgeries. She has Lymphangioma Aka Cystic Hygromas. She also has Hemangiomas , and they are still trying to figure out what is full wrong with her. She has been hospitalized 12 times outside of her surgeries and had DOZENS of tests done. She had Endoscopy done yesterday. She also has Reactive Asthma and is classified as a Severe reactor. Which means half her tests that require Sedation also require intubation. She also was Diagnosed with Cat Scratch Syndrome 2 years ago and got every rare side effect that was in the book and a few that weren't. When we took her to the hospital , I stepped on a walnut and rolled my ankle breaking it, while running out the door carrying her.

My 11 Year old Broke his hand at 3 and shattered his elbow at 8 , which required Surgery. He is a Aspergers kid. Last year he got in a fight with his brother and had a nose bleed that was so bad they considered a blood transfusion. 24 Hours later he collapsed with Viral Meningitis.

My 10 year old also has Aspergers and was overdosed by a hospital, and was in a coma for several days. He came home from the hospital and developed Appendicitis within 24 hours. Another emergency surgery. You can not imagine what the Phone call was like and the desperate 20 minute drive across town chasing a ambulance.

My 8 Year old , when she was 10 months old got a diaper rash that wouldnt go away. Turned out to be some mutated bacteria commonly found on childrens hands. She was in the hospital for 30 days. The CDC was called in, she was quarantined. We were not allowed to leave her room with out decontaminating. The Doctors were begging us to let them write her up in some journal. Want to know what caused it? Antibacterial Hand Soap. The infection ate at her hip bone and she has a dent in her but that ill never leave. She will need hip replacement by the time she is 30.

My husband was Diagnosed with Chron's a couple years ago and has a Clumsy Disorder , I like to call Absurb Bone Breaking syndrome. He broke his foot , by standing on the tines of a forklift and having a dump trucks tailgate smash his foot.The latch on it was broken.It was a spiral fracture with a Bone bruise. He Broke his breast bone and several ribs while driving a Tractor with a plow attachment. He tripped and fell over a shovel and broke his hand. He was standing in the bed of his work truck a couple months ago when a Woman passed out driving. She struck a Truck head on and threw the truck into my husbands work truck. My Husband was launched out of the truck and landed hard , bruising more than half his body and spraining his ankle.

This doesnt even begin to cover all the stitches and colds and flu the kids come down with. But seriously what in gods green earth would cause so many problems within one family? Okay some of it is Clumsiness, The Broken bones with the exception of my shoulder could have been prevented.

But how in the heck do we account for all the weird rare diseases and side effects? I'm allergic to mosquito bites for Christs sake. Not one of these things has every shown up in our family before now.

Im so sick and tired of our family being sick and ill or injured. Did I do something so bad, that Karma is paying me back? I have people tell me , I am too nice and generous. Maybe I should try being mean for once. Maybe we would all live longer.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with so much. I'm sure you have some really horrible days & just need to scream or cry or both, but your strength shines through for everyone you meet. How could it not?

Personally, I don't believe in karma. Karma suggests that you get to control all things in your life, but I can't think of a single case where that's true.

I only find time to coupon because I have made it a part of my Therapy LOL!!! They Doctor told me to try walking inside as it was safer if I fell lol.

Otherwise the Kids and a friend help me by cutting all the coupons, and I get match ups from Here and Krazy Coupon Lady.

I wasnt able to coupon for about 6 months though and used up everything in my stockpile. It feels to good to have it back!

I don't know if its Karma or Bad Luck or what , but your right. I did need to scream it out. I feel a little bit better already.

Well I don't quite feel so bad now! Heh. I haven't been to the ER too many times but my daughter sure has. This past year she has been to the walk in clinic more times I can remember. Several times to Children's Hospital.

The year before that she was at the ENT for chronic nosebleeds. The year before that it was the Urologist for chronic UTI's. She has broken the same arm in the same place three times and sprained it once. Currently she has a near stress fracture in her back and numbness in one foot that we have yet to sort out. Waiting for a test at Children's for that. She barely passed most of her school classes because she missed sooo much school due to illness, injury or just Drs. appointments.

My dad has been in and out of the hospital many times as has my husband.

I've had chronic illnesses. I think two years ago was the bad time for me. Chronic ear infections and then pneumonia and bronchitis. Plus I seemed to catch every cold and whatever else was going around.

This past year was pretty good for me. Although my diabetes has been out of control since I went on insulin... Don't know why but my blood sugar has only gotten higher. I have managed to escape most of what has been going around. I upped my vitamin D. I am taking Cat's Claw, Grapefruitseed Oil and Oil of Oregano. They seem to be boosting my immune system.

Sorry you all are having such problems. I know how frustrating it can be.

Wow! So sorry you have had to deal with all of this. How stressful!

I don't believe in true Karma as in previous lives and all that...but I do believe that the universe keeps a balance of all things...so I don't believe that your family has "caused" any of this (well obviously except broken bones ). Unfortunately, I think sometimes a family's genetic makeup comes together to bring out a host of otherwise recessive disorders. So, I guess you could say maybe it probably is just "bad luck" :(

sorry you have been threw all this and its still comming. I really hope it ends soon for you so all of you can feel better.

I am sick alot also with breathing problems and very very bad acid reflux. However I cant not compare myself to you at all.

You need to see a geneticist. It would probably be easiest to have the 5 year old be seen first. The geneticist will want info on EVERYONE.

Ask the ped for a referral to a ped geneticist. It will probably take forever to get in, but they are generally one that can tell you if something genetic is going on.

You story reads like Erin Brockovich could have written it. I'd sidestep the doctors for awhile and look into environmental factors. Are other people in your town also sick with "rare" diseases? Have you had your water tested? Is it city water or from a well? Lots of agriculture nearby? Superfund site? Do you live near the Cargill meatpacking plant? Electrical lines overhead? Government facility nearby?

Something in your environment...water, soil, air is causing a calcium leach from your bones. Drinking lots of soda (phosphoric acid) also causes weak bones but not to the extent of your surgical list. If I couldn't solve this systemic poisoning, I'd move as far away as possible.

As an antidote, bentonite clay is great for removing poisons from the body including heavy metal toxicity. It is safe for internal use but more commonly used in a bath. HTH
