I'm so scared of all of my hair falling off :(
right now, I either wear my hair down and pin the bangs back to cover up all the roots
or I just put it in a sleek ponytail.
Soon, neither of those are going to look okay.

I've saved so much with coupons and not eating out
I might just go ahead and get it done...as much as i don't want to.
I'm never picking up a box of dye again

Yes, all your new growth will be your natural color. Also sometimes your natural color will look different until it gets some length because the other color. I've seen some natural medium to dark blonds that are growing out lightened hair and their regrowth looks a couple shades darker than it really is.

I got a free box of hairdye about 6 months ago.. it made my hair PURPLE. Which would have been great if I was 16... and not 32 and 8 months pregnant!

I went to Walgreens and used some RR's to buy a box of hair color remover (I think Revlon makes it). About an hour later, my hair was a lovely shade of straw-ish. It was still really soft and was not at all damaged. I gave my hair a few daysto rest and breathe and then I re-colored my hair the color I wanted to it to be originally.

Just follow the directions on the box of color remover. It's very simple. If you are nervous, enlist the help of a friend.

Not experienced with hair color at all, but could you use that wash out hair color and apply a dark color to the roots and then when it starts to fade after 6 weeks or however long, just keep reapplying it and trimming the ends and then eventually all the hair will be your natural hair color and you can let it fade out to your natural color.

Just looked up some info, and this was kinda suggested. Start with a darker color to match the dyed hair then gradually get lighter shades. Here's a link:

I too dyed my hair black...twice now and both times I decided I wanted my blonde hair back. The first time I tried to do it at home and OMG!!! My hair looked like a spotted zebra!! I had to wear a winter hat to the salon and pay $160 dollars to get it fixed. Plus it took 2 hours to fix it completely. Which it wasnt even the color I wanted after she was done I was just happy it wasnt black anymore. So the second time I dyed my hair black after months I decided once again I didnt like the black anymore, this time I went to the salon at Walmart, and after $115 I was back to blonde, and it was a great shade of blonde. My only advice to u is either let the professionals do it or it might not turn out like you like it. The black color actually has alot of reds in it, so becareful with using home products. Plus some of the stuff can be very harmful on your hair. I have finally came to the conclusion I am NEVER dying my hair black again its just to hard to get out unless you go to a salon.

    YOU GUYS!
    I completely forgot about this!
    I got my hair done.
This is what happened, she put a goldwell color remover in
washed it, blow dried, goldwell remover, washed it, blow dried and then put TONS of blonde highlight in it.
I wasn' thrilled with the look. I mean, she seemed confident that she could get blonde but it looks WAYY better than it did.
    It was $125

Glad you got your hair fixed :) I was kind of the opposite. I am naturally light brown and was blonde by dying for a long time. I went to the salon to get back to my natural color. My salon only cost $75 for a coloring, highlight and haircut.

I'd get it done in a salon, you don't want to run the risk of damage at home. Maybe even try a beauty school. Cost will be much cheaper as the costomotologists are learning how to do this - they are supervised by the way.

It may take 2 attempts, at least, since black is so dark from your original. Eventually, it should return.

tip: after you've had it stripped, put mayo all over your hair and sleep with it on, with a shower cap) - will put some moisture back in
