    HELP Anyone heart healthy?

My great uncle has recently suffered from heart failure and has been put on a very strict heart healthy diet. My Aunt cooks for him and though she loves him and wants to help him, she has trouble buying the heart healthy salts and seasonings and things. Does anyone have any idea if there are any site for heart healthy coupons and if so can you tell me where please? Any help and advice is much appreciated. thank you

Mrs Dash and a Foreman Grill will save his tastebuds! A heart healthy diet drastically reduces salt useage. The cool thing is that once he gets used to eating things without salt (give him about 2 weeks), foods will start to taste really good! I have borderline high blood pressure which I have cured with lower fat & salt intake and 30 mins of exercise a day. Anyway, Mrs Dash comes in lots of varieties! I think I have 8 different kinds in my cupboard right now and the Foreman grill is a fast and easy way to prepare meats and vegies without any added fats! Just make sure your aunt pays a bit more for the one with removable grills - it will save her so much time!

Salt Free Seasonings | Mrs. Dash I've gotten coupons off their website before but they don't seem to have any posted right now. Sign up and they'll email you updates, recipes, and coupon links!
Always ISO: tea, pasta, cat food & litter (Friskies is their fave!), produce, pasta sauces. laundry soap, household cleaners, batteries, etc.

Mrs Dash usually has tearpads coupon and insert coupons out. If she likes that kind (which I love) you might post asking if anyone has them to trade if you cant find any.

BUT I buy my stuff like that at Sams Club in the huge bottles so I dont have to worry about it for a long time. Garlic & Herb seasoning is one we use alot it runs about $7 and last a long time. I am not a salt eater or shaker person only on patotes and beans..For everything else I like spices instead.

I don't know how your aunt cooks, but the vast majority of the time people are getting too much sodium (salt) in their diet from processed foods, not the salt shaker. AndreaCA is right, once he gets used to not adding salt to foods, he will soon begin to taste the overwhelming amount that is already there. A strict low sodium diet means NO added salt. I recommend reading labels on everything, and buying products with the lowest sodium content available. There are some great websites out there that can help explain how to dramatically lower a person's sodium intake. Good luck!

Things you can change....most of your canned food. So instead of canned green beans you would do frozen or fresh.
