the best thing to do is add some exercise and try to eat better. I know, easier said then done - but that's what will get your sugars down
Hi I have just found out that I am pre diabectic(sp) sry about that. I need some help with it could you all please give me some things that helped you. I have to go back to the Dr. in a few weeks to talk to him. There is diabectics in my family so I should know a little but I think I heard the words and I freaked out. Do you test yourself everyday? I know that a good diet will help and excerise but I am just a little confused. Thanks for any help I really do appreciate it.

Really have to watch what you eat and drink. Its hard! yes you need to test yourself everyday several times a day to see what foods make it go up and which ones dont. Keep a log of the readings and the food so you have it to look back on. I find that what makes mine go up up and away is different than what dose it to others.

I have a Diabetes for Dummies book that one of our drug reps for the office gave us last year. I would be willing to give it to you as a RAOK if you want to PM me your address. It has a lot of great information in it.

Thank You all so much for helping me out. I guess I do have a lot to learn even though there is a lot in my family down the line. You all have a great day and Take care and Big Hugs to you all.

I was diagnosed as diabetic in January. The biggest thing that makes blood sugars go up is carbs. If I keep my carbs lower, the blood sugars stay more evened out. My nutritionist and endocrinologist say that I can have 15 grams of carbs for a snack and 45-60 per meal. I try to keep it lower, but sometimes I take the whole 60.
For me, one of the hardest things to give up was "REAL" coke. I'm not a fan of diet coke... but the Sprite Zero is really good! It's not that difficult once you get used to it. A cheat every now and then isn't all that harmful, just make sure not to do it very often.

This may be a dumb question but what even is pre-diabetic. I have never even heard of that. How do they determine that one is pre-diabetic? Does it just mean that one is is likely to develope diabetes because of diet/excercise/blood sugar or do they already have diabetes or is there some test that determines this?
Pre-diabetic is when your labs may be just a little high. Sometimes people can control it with diet and excercise. We usually give our patients a few weeks to adjust what they eat and try to exercise then go from there. It's amazing how much your levels will go down just doing those 2 things.

About a year ago i was diagnosed with having insulin resistance. My body produces to much insulin. I diet , eat right, and excercise and every 3 months when i have my labs done my triglycerides are higher everytime. Right now they are at 400. The doctors have me on metformin but it isn't lowering the levels. The good thing is that it is keeping my sugar under control.
