Default What temp is too high?

I should know this. I have a 19 year old but thankfully I was blessed with healthy kids. Usually when they get sick it is the cold which I can handle but today my DD started the day with a low grade temp of 99.8. I gave her some Advil and went on with my day. I checked her again later and it was 101.2. Got a little more concerned, had her go to bed and gave her more Advil. Just took it again and it is 103.6!!! She has no other symptoms at all. Not nausea, vomiting, cough, runny nose, nothing. Gave her more Advil. So, when do I need to start freaking out???

i would start giving motrin every 8 hours and tylenol every 4 .. a cool shower may help as well .. probably just a nasty virus that needs to run its course

    hope she feels better

I would call your doctor if it remains at 103, as 103 is high.

With no other symptoms, I wouldn't be too worried. Her body is just trying to fight something off. I'd do lots of rest, fluids, and alternating Tylenol and Motrin.

Also, taking a cool shower may not be a good idea, because if the body is cooled too much, it will raise its temperature to compensate. I'd suggest a lukewarm one.

Just checked and it is down to 101.2! Hopefully it stays down. Thanks for the advice. I called her doctor and she said as long as it is just a fever and no other symptoms she should be ok. She also said if it stays at 103 for more than an hour to have her seen.

I am sorry your daughter is not feeling well. I would be worried too, that means you are a good mother. I will be praying for you and glad to see her temp went down some. Plenty of rest and fluids, especially chicken noodle soup will do her good. My husband swears by it and it works every time.
