Nurse Does anyone here have carpal tunnel?

If you do, can you explain to me how it feels?

My one hand is really sore and I'm wondering if that may be the cause since it is the hand I use to move my mouse with and mainly type. With all of my computer work I have had to do lately, plus moving the mouse for my cameras at work I think I may have "overused" it.

I'm a sufferer. My hands swell up all the time. I work as a secretary and CT is the worse thing for me. I get sharp pains right on top of my hands or shooting pain up my arms. Sometimes I am unable to use the computer due to the pain and swelling.

I have had it. Currently fine unless I do a lot of mousing or using the 10 key on the computer. It was the worst when I did POS work and was using either the 10 key or the RMU (hand held computer) with the tiny buttons.

The underside of my wrist would hurt and ache very badly. Thumb and pointer finger would go numb. If it got really bad the middle finger would go numb too. If I tapped lightly on the underside of my wrist the pain would be excrutiating and would radiate into my hand and up my arm.

Holding my arm above my head would make it feel better. I used a splint for sleeping. And I bought a thing called a Cat's Paw to stretch out the carpal tunnel. It really helped!

well let's see what i can tell you from what i have had to deal with...

cubital (nerve in elbow compressed) pinky and ring finger will go numb. shooting pain from elbow to pinky finger

raidal (top of arm runs down the middle of your arm towards you arm) if this is compressed , your middle finger will be numb

carpal : thumb and wrist. numbness, sore, and painful from time to time depending on what you are doing. you can get a wrist/hand immobilizer to help.

i will say, surgery for any of these will do some good. some but not all.
