Re: What the heck is wrong with my boy???
If he works really hard on his hand washing skills...it will probably improve.
Now I know school is probably out...but my oldest and soon to be middle one..are not allowed to use the school drinking fountain (or any drinking fountain). We send bottled water for them instead....cause seriously the drinking fountain is a petrie dish of yuck.

Re: What the heck is wrong with my boy???
When was the last time he had a BM?Constipation can cause vomiting if it gets bad enough...Also might explain why it occurs mostly holidays when you tend to eat more.Little boys especially are prone to constipation.I would still consult a doc and get bloodwork done to rule out an immunity issue.Usually with foodborne illness you have diarrhea with the vomiting,I have been hospitalized for food poisoning (9) days I was so sick had both D and V.Hope your little one gets better soon..

Re: What the heck is wrong with my boy???
Entero Virus is really bad these last few years. My Son never gets sick and his started with a headache and vomiting. We even went the ER route and got sent home. We took him back the next day and and the Spinal Tap popped positive. 3 days in Icu , 10 days in the hospital total with Viral Meningitis.
Entero virus is a common Virus that causes stomach and flu like symptoms, there are several variations of it and you can get each one once.
With him getting that ill once a month, it sounds as if he is being exposed to the Virus by a Friend maybe? Does your Son have any friends that come from a large family?
You have no idea how many Virus , my friends 5 Kids bring home each month! Please let us know what the Doctor says!
I'm sure it will come up as Allergies or maybe even constipation!

Re: What the heck is wrong with my boy???
I'm a little late to the game on this one but wanted to throw this one out: Salmonella. Does he have an Iguana or a Turtle? My DD had an issue several years ago with something resembling a stomach flu but it lasted much longer than the normal 2-3 days. Her's went on for a week and occurred multiple times over the course of the year.
Finally took her to the Doc. She went through the list, then asked; "Does she have an Iguana?" DARN-the bells went off!!! No...no Iguana but she has a turtle! Problem solved. Reptiles often carry Salmonella. We took the turtle out of her room, DH began taking care of him and no more calling "Ralph" on the big white phone!
