Default Has anyone heard of and tried the WaterFall Diet?

I broke down and went to the doctor yesturday because I have been suffeering from swollen feet and legs for about two months. I'm talking MAJOR swelling. So now I'm wearing those pretty little old lady compression socks . He said I am suffering from water retention and is checking my kidneys and liver. Anyway, today my legs feel like jello almost to the point they don't want to hold my body up.

I've been researching diet and it seems there is a miracle diet called the waterfall diet that is supposed to help with problems like this. Anybody ever hear of it? Tried it? Can you give me details?

I am probably carrying an extra 16 pounds of water weight right now. Worse than that I am forcing myself to drink extra water for the next few days and it just about makes me sick.

if you can say a prayer for my family!

    L. I didn't know you were going through all of that:( I hope you get to the root of this. I have been praying for you overall in everything you have been going through. I still swear by the honey I told you about. I have lost sooo much fluid in my body and am starting to feel great. I have lost 65 lbs now. Drink the water it will help you flush out the fluid.
    Please pray for my family.
Please keep Elizabeth in your prayers. She lost her Father on 2/19/2012.

I googled "what is the waterfall diet plan" and clicked on the first site that it listed. It mentions a book that has all of the info on it...and also offers a download (for $12). I know...it's kind of pricey, but it might be worth looking into.

Never heard of it -- what all does it entail?
I hope you get better ASAP! Water retention/swollen legs/feet are NO fun! Happened to me last summer for about a week, and I wanted to die!

Sitting for long periods of time can cause it. Also if you do have kidney issues depending on the particular problem the last thing you want to do is drink large quantities of water as it could cause further problems. Also diuretics can also be a no no for certain kidney problems.

Try eating asparagus & parsley as they are natural diuretics but do so in moderation until your Dr. can finished his testing etc.

This has been going on for about two months I've just put off the doctor because well I'm just a tight wad Then when the leg cramps started jolting me awake at night (you know like the ones you have when you prego) I got afraid of blood clots so....I bit the bullet.

Curious? How long did it take to get rid of the extra fluid? And, did you ever figure out what was causing it?

Sitting & Standing & Walking What am I supposed to do

Thanks for the suggestions on the veggies. Doctor did run tests on my liver and kidneys but I really don't feel like there is an issue there of course I could be wrong.

Low potassium could be the reason & if too low it can also mess with your heart rhythm. I have been diagnosed with kidney issues & one of the problems I have is the legs cramps & it is because I am loosing too much potassium in my urine so I increase my potassium intake with high potassium foods.

I think, honestly for me it was a combo of a few things:
Wayyy hot summer and being on my feet all day, every weekend helping my mom run my brothers' baseball league concessions stand (on concrete ),then sitting at my desk all week at work. Plus, my sodium intake was way too high at the yime (darn concession hotdogs!!) and I had about 20 extra pounds to lose at that time

My pcp gave me some rx diuretics, I quit drinking soda and added more water, lots of rest, and I was better in about a week.

I feel for you, though, because it sucked so bad the couple weeks it was going on...I really hope its nothing serious!

I'm not a salt user but I know I get plenty in the foods I eat.
I try eating bananas even though I don't like them.
I take my flintstones too :)

Anyway, thanks guys. I was hoping to hear more about the waterfall diet as I'm too cheap to spring for even the download book LOL.
