The queen of April Fools was here.
That's basically what happened to me this morning. I thought it was in there and was actually getting ready to walk out the door when I realized my vision was off. I went back into the bathroom and dug around in my eye and sure enough, nothing. I looked for that thing with a flashlight for half an hour. I have no idea how I lost it. After all that searching this morning, I went in there this afternoon for something else and BAM there it was in plain sight, all shrunken and shriveled and deformed. I wasn't even looking for it.
Not bad. They aren't horribly uncomfortable, but I am aware of them. In 24 hours, I've gone from being completely unable to put eye drops into my own eyes to being a pro at it. My eyes sometimes feel a little dry or scratchy with the contacts, so I've used drops a few times. The rest of the time, I don't really feel them.
The errant contact is back to looking completely normal. I'll check it out in the morning. Throwing it away won't be any worse than losing it, I guess.
Love love love that I can see things at a distance. Store signs, the clock on the cable box, things I couldn't see before. I'm really struggling with up close vision-- it's hard to read labels or my phone. I am now one of the people I used to poke fun at-- having to stretch something out way in front of me to read. I tried on some readers tonight. I'll definitely be getting some.
So I'm not as unhappy as I started out! If I can just get the hang of getting them in.

I'm sooo glad you're enjoyig them!! Isn't the long distance part fantastic!!!I can't wait until I can afford them again.. right now,my glasses are perched downward..(the vision is driving me NUTs!1 arghh).. do you have a 99 cents store there?
Reading glasses, I found i had to have w/ contacts... and I had never needed eyedrops so now i always look out for free eyedrops
ps: thks guys, i didn't knw the shriveled contacts could be repaired!
usually mine can't.. i don't think..
Just wondering how you are doing with your contacts now. :) If you have a chance to try Night & Day by Ciba I highly recommend those. I've tried those out for about a month and a half now those are the best for my protein/allergy ridden eyes. I haven't had a problem taking a nap or even overnight, although I don't make a habit of either one.
I still don't love them, but I like them ok. Actually, I guess I love them just fine when they're in, but I still haaaaaaaate the actual act of trying to get them in. I don't wear them that often, so the ones I have ought to last a long time. When it's time to refill, I might check on that other brand. I'm wondering if they make something a little less... flimsy? I guess being soft and squishy is what makes them so comfortable once they're in, but dang if I don't have the hardest time getting them in because they roll and slide and collapse. I'm all Fred Flintstone thumbs.
Thanks for asking!![]()

Oh, and I did end up getting a couple of weeks more use out of the errant contact. It plumped right back up. The eye doctor said that I was lucky and that she wouldn't recommend it, but rock on. She's awesome.

I'm sorry you don't love them, well into they're inserted. Do keep in mind the Night & Day you may love those if it doesn't bother you to leave them in overnight.
There's always gas permeables which took me a day to get used to, but could take a little longer for others. Those pop right in and out and are smaller. Some love those and some don't. ;)
I can see how your soft would be flimsy. I often forget that since my prescription is so strong until accidently I grab my husband's case whose eyes are so much better.
Glad you got a couple more weeks out of the runaway and I imagine many eye pros wouldn't recommend it some due to liability.
