    Nurse Sick of being sick!

I feel like every other week since it has gotten cold outside I am sick. Just the yucky upper respiratory stuff usually, but it is driving me crazy. I thought after I got my tonsils taken out things would slow up a bit, and they did for awhile....but lately it is just one right after the other. Then I either give it to my little boy or he gives it to me. I know it could be a lot worse, but just looking for some immunity tips.

Anyone have any great tips for boosting immunity?

I'm sorry you have been so sick. Drinking orange juice every day helps. I don't do it because it is so expensive but it has worked in the past. Also if you have Sambucol and take it every day it helps you not get sick as much. It is a immune system booster. Now if you are already sick it will help you heal in a few days, alot quicker than usual. If you take it before you get sick every day you don't sick nearly as often. I don't have any right now but really would like to stock up on it if possible as it has worked for me in the past. It is just expensive, like $12.99 a bottle and a bottle only lasts a few days! So needless to say I don't have any at all but did when they were free a few years ago.

So don't laugh - but Sex (well orgasms) have been shown to boost immunity.

Also, getting massages helps because it increases the flow of your lymph fluid.

And of course - Vitamin C does support your immunity - BUT don't take over doses of Vit C because that is worse.

A general multi vitamin is a good idea if you don't take one.

And the magic one -water! The more water you drink the more yucky your body can flush out.

Plenty of sleep - so your body can fight off the germs it encounters during the day.

    Thanks for the advice guys!

Now I think the cold (or whatever it is) has gotten in my eye...yucky mucous in it and it hurts. I think I will try to go to the doctor tomorrow.

    2 suggestions...

Make sure you don't have a sinus infection that is becoming chronic.

wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands. If your the one getting the cold...then each time your out and about..you hand sanitizer and wash your hands when you can.

We also use this product for my daughter...you put it in your nose..and it kills the bugs coming in for about 8 hours Nozin® Nasal Sanitizer® Antiseptic|Fight Germs - Defense that makes sense.®

For her...she doesn't use a drinking fountain...ever. Routinely washes her hands, and does not share things with other students. That has really cut down on the amount of colds she picks up.

Also for the hand sanitizer...it needs to be alcohol based...60% or more. You need to be able to put it on your hands and rub for at least 7 seconds...and keep rubbing until your hands dry. If you don't do above...it just moves the bugs around...but doesn't kill them.

I have never had it go in my eye- but my daughter (4) is just getting over that. There were a couple mornings her little eyes were crusted shut. It was gross but mostly it was sad because she was so upset and scared when she couldn't open her eyes!

Up your vitamin D, it is shown to help asthma & is more successful in preventing flu than a flu shot! 5,000 IUs is what I take daily with slow mag magnesium for energy & pain issues.

Oh poor thing! Yep that same thing happened to me. I went to the doctor and it is conjunctivitis (pink eye). I guess it developed from the sinus infection.

I wish I had some advice, but I don't. I've been fighting some kind of upper respiratory thing for the last few weeks, I thought it was on its way out over the weekend, but it came back with a vengeance on Tuesday and today I've been coughing almost constantly and having some trouble breathing. I hope I can kick it so I don't have to go to the doctor, they see me way too much already!
