Default Anyone have any suggestions? Cramps galore!

Ugh...so i keep battling with cramps...ive been diagnosed with endometriosis and pcos for almost 8 years now...and when i was first diagnosed i was in relatively decent shape and at a decent weight. I am at a constant battle with cramps and now i cant find a doctor that wants to help me....they think its all because of my weight gain since i have gained quite a few poundswith the loss of my father and the happiness of marriage...yup im one of those emotional eaters...so now when i go to the doctor they check the regular pap smear, vitals, blood work....tell me to lose weight and come back in a year...and this has happened to me 3 times...im so at a loss of what to do....i just wish i could find someone to help!i hate crying for hours on end...which makes me eat more goodies to try and calm myself down
any suggestions or remedies or help or know of a doctor in indiana?!

ask around to your friends or coworkers...you need more than just an uncaring doctor that thinks it is because you are overweight....you mention you are an emotional eater, maybe there is a little depression here. happy pills work for lots of people! have you tried talking to your regular physician and tell them what your issues are.

i had a friend that had the same as you...she was heavy too. she was taking 8 or more pills at once and the pain was unbearable around that time. she finally told her ob that he could "take it all out" ...he at first refused because she was 30 and had no kids and he didnt see that as right...she told him he either could take it out or she would find another doctor that would...he happily did it and she is extremely happy now.

yeah my regular doctor treats me with depression in conjunction with my therapist. even with the happy pills unfortunately i still eat more than i should when it comes to emotions....as far as taking it all out a. im not ready, my husband and i would like to have kids and b. from the research i have done with the endo in not just my ovaries but bowels and such, i will still have this problem because it wont all be gone :(

and the heat patches are ok if im up....but i try to just sleep when my onset this bad starts...and then ill wake up and my skin will be burning from it being so hot and ill get a rash...

thanks for the help...im just trying to keep my head held high and hoping God will send me a doctor.

I'm sorry about your situation. I don't have endo, but for 10-12 years my period cramps were so bad that I could barely walk, sleep, eat, function, and it was always in 5 hour straight increments every period. I remember all I could do is cry and think how the pain has to be similar to labor pains.

FINALLY it's gone, it's been 2-3 years since I've had the pain like that, but I remember well! I remember a massage therapist telling me to rub behind the knob on the side of your ankle (whatever those bones are) the spot was on the lower back side of the bone and I remember just pushing my thumb under there and rubbing....it did provide some relief for a bit...not sure why, but anything is worth a try. I would rub the spot on all 4 of the bones (one on each side of ankle). When you're laying there give it a shot if you can reach...if not if you have someone else that can...make them do it :) Thermacare wraps are great for my cramps I get now which aren't even 1/3 as painful as before, but not sure how much they'd help you, again, anything is worth trying. :(
    If it isn't free.....it isn't for me!

Mine were really bad until I had kids then they got alot better, I mean to the point that I could deal with it without pills and such..I dont know what it was about having a kid that changed it but it did. I can take a lot of pain so when I say I hurt you better know that I hurt.

You may want to dotor shop different obgyn dr.s and try a man its seems that women often dont feel as sorry for you as a man dose when it comes to these things for some reason. You would think a women would understand better but if they do they dont seem to care around here.

Try a hot water bottle that way it cools down as you sleep and wont burn your skin or give you a rash, or a sock full of rice, that heats up in like 2 or 3 mintues and can be reused and it will also cool off as you sleep.

You might want to try Naproxen or other artritis medicine, that would help the inflamed tussie some and should help the pain some also.

I have endo also and have had one surgery to remove an ovary due to a huge cyst. Have you had a sonogram to make sure you don't have cysts. I was in so much pain that I couldn't function and my origional ob said that some people just have more painful periods. Thankfully, my primary thought that was ridiculous and referred me to a great dr who took it seriously. After the surgery, I went on Depo Lupron for 6 months. It has side effect, like hot flashes and weight gain, but helps with the endo. I then switched to Depr Provera and haven't had any problems. If I was you I would continue to look for a dr that will treat you. Have you asked your primary for a referral?
