Anyone ever find any home remedies that actually work for Bacterial Vaginosis?

I don't know how well they work, but I have seen AZO Yeast Infection tablets at CVS and Walmart. I've also heard lots and lots of yogurt help.

BV is different from a yeast infection and from what I know, practically requires an anti-biotic to clear it up.

Your local walk-in clinic would be able to diagnose and prescribe meds for you.

The antibiotics work until you finish the round of meds, then it comes right back. I don't wish to load up my body with antibiotics. It isn't good for you and only makes you more resistant to meds later down the road.

I've had that before. I will not take Flagyl (or however it's spelled). That stuff makes me sick. I won't take something that is supposed to make me better that only makes me sick. The last time I just refused the meds. It seemed to go away eventually on it's own. I haven't looked for any home remedies though.

After many many months.....4-5 months - mine too has appeared to have gone away on it's own as well. I took no meds & did no home remedies.... I just realized after a while, it was gone.... took a long time though.... Knock on wood - that it doesn't come back! It was not fun!

For what it is worth, I have learned over the years what soaps not to use in a traial and error method. Certain bar soaps seem to be to harsh for me. The summers eve feminine wash seemed to only through my body off, all these products say ph balanced and blah blah blah! But I seem to have better luck with my nievea body wash, I am careful with my oil of olay because that seems to throw me off. Another thing I refuse to peel onions bare handed I use food prep gloves I swear something in the onions makes my body go wonky too. The oild on my hands and when I wash in the shower the oils on that area. Sorry to be so desctiptive, But my own experience.

I think it has much to do with what we try to wash with certain things need to be there to keep it healty while others tend to irritate and our body over reacts and I think this is where the BV comes into play, I remember a while ago taking a bath with vinegar in it.

I also suffered from hemmroids severeal times, I tried all the sopostiories, creams tuck, but you wanna know what it is that helped? Listerine LOL yeah I can't remember when for sure I started trying thst but i was in desperate need of relief, I figured it freshens your breath and kills gerems in your mouth and I figured I would try that and to my surprise it really helped an I have lots in stock pile. ( Just have to be care not to get to much there or it might I know TMI get in other areas and it will burn on the front end. ( It has shrunk and cooled extrenal hemmorrids Hth someone)

Bacterial Vaginosis is the results of overgrowth of normal bacterials, where yest infections are just from the over growth of yest alone..they both however feel about the same and can be casued from the same things at times.

If you are treated with Flagyl after being on it a few days you need to start treating yourself for a yeast infection also with either a over the counter 7 day cream or with the Fluconazole Tablets..if you use the tablets you will need to treat yourself 2 or 3 times within a few days of each other.................I had a spell with this awhile back and was treated serveral times before I got the see the right Dr at the health Dept(a women) that knew how to cure it..and the above is just what she gave me and it worked.
She told me that the Flagyl will usually cause a yeast infeaction,so when you get treated with it you need to treat for yeast also so you dont come back thining its not gone yet and since usually you see the same Dr the second time they will treat you for the same thing without looking under the micscope to see if its cleared up or not...so when treated with the Flagyl or whatever the second time it only makes the yeast get worse.

also you may want to have your sugar check..I found out that I am borderline and the fact that my sugar got very high at times(250 ish) could have had something to do with this problem...I was having problems with Bacterial Vaginosis and yeast often until I found out about the sugar thing now that I keep it checked and eat somewhat better I dont seem to have either, like I did.
