Default I need help with Plantar Fascitis

Usually I'm pretty good with the medical stuff...but this dang foot is throwing me a loop. Without actually cutting off my foot...how on earth do I get it to quit hurting?

I'm fairly certain I have plantar fascitis...it's basically the heel that is hurting so much and waking up I'm hobling.

    TIA!

I rolled a tennis ball under my foot in the morning and in the evening to get the tendon losened up. It wasn't an instant fix but over the course of a couple of weeks the pain eased and went away. I still do it tho'. they say it's not good to just jump out of bed and set to walking without stretching first.

Oh my I have it and it is awful-I have to always wear custom made orthotics for one thing other than that these things helped-ibuprofen, stretching before getting out of bed, frozen water bottles on bottom of feet(focus on heel and rolling up foot),cortisone shots, physical therapy, and just limiting time spent on my feet. Good luck to you-I really think that song "old Dan Tucker" was about a guy with plantar fascitis-esp the part about "died with a toothache in his heel" cause thats just what it feels like!!

also, try stretching out your calf muscles... that was the root of my problem

    Hi,
I had the whole mess too, I ended up opting for the surgery. Pretty hard but soooo worth it! The only lasting problem is a small amount of numbness from the cut. If the fascitis is the only problem then you can get laproscopic surgery (not sure if I spelled that right) Turns out I also had a heel spur to go along with my other little friend, so my surgery was a bit harder. (lucky me!!)
Rolling your foot on a tennis ball is a great idea! Good luck I wish you the best!!

I had this and went to a Chiropracter he had me do an excercise...
    face the wall
take your foot and put your toes on the wall with your heel on the ground
push your knee towards the wall i did this at night and in the morning

also he said try not to point my toes..that opens the tendon up when you are trying to get it to heal closed.

In addition to ice, anti-inflammatory meds, and stretching, I found wearing a plantar fasciitis night splint to be most helpful. It keeps your foot flexed so that the fascia stays stretched as you sleep, and heals more quickly. Also lessens that morning pain!

If you have some spare RRs or ECBs, you can purchase the Futuro Night Foot Support at Walgreens or CVS. It has worked well for me, but there are lots of other versions out there. If I start feeling the warning symptoms in my susceptible foot, I wear the splint for a couple of nights to “nip it in the bud.”

I never hear of these. i might check it out. But Good Lord, I can see me now "getting suited up for bed" I already wear braces on both hands for carpal tunnel (I curl my hands when I sleep otherwise and wake up several times a night in alot of pain) then if I add splints for my feet, won't I be sight?

Same conditon here too. It is just miserable. I went to a Podiatrist this week and he really can't do much for me. He says it is because I have high arches and "rigid" type feet (what ever that means). He also said mine was a "mild" case (I would not want a severe case!!). He gave me all the suggestions posted here...frozen water bottle, stretching, rolling a tennis ball under the foot...etc. Once you get it...you have it...comes and goes....NICE
