Well I am have an appointment for April 28th with my dr already. I do take meds for anxiety and am in the middle of switching meds for depression. My current one doesnt work. It was given to me after i had an upper endoscopy because of heartburn and nausea. Turns out I have nothing wrong to cause heartburn it was related to stress.

Mother nature- I will be checking into those A1C kits. Now are those different than glucose meters? I used a bayer contour to test my blood this morning. You have all helped me out so much.

    THANKS!

My A1C from Relion and my A1C from Quest matched. My husbands A1C from Relion and his A1C from Quest was one point off. The Relion was a point higher.

Any blood glucose monitor reading under 70 is hypoglycemia. Make sure to have Gatorade or glucose gel with you all the time. You need an instant shot of non-complex sugar.

I've had several hypoglycemia episodes. Not fun.

This is incorrect. Hypoglycemia is the OPPOSITE of Diabetes. Hyperglycemia is a precursor to adult-onset (type 2) Diabetes.

Also, if you have Hypoglycemia then sugar is contraindicated. It will make you feel better for a few minutes, and only exasperate the problem (i.e. you will crash again, and feel even worse.)

I just wanted to clarify some semantics on the complex pathophysiology of Diabetes, Pre-Diabetes & Hypoglycemia symptoms.
They CAN all co-exist at once.
The definitions do have overlap, & that is where the confusion comes.

    Mothernature is correct.
I am a HealthCare Professional & understand her complex point, that is too broad to explain here.
Mothernature gets her information from the World-Renowned Joslin Center for Diabetes.

3timessoccermom-she has a Forum for Diabetics here at HCW you may want to check out, she is well read & respected on this subject.

As for Kat, you can get this tested 4/28 at the MD, & your symptoms
are HIGHLY treatable and you CAN feel better soon.
Save your money on home tests until you speak to your MD next week.

The A1C is a every 3-6 month (dependent on a PCP's or Endocrinologists recommendation) blood test. The test results give an average of the persons blood sugar for the past three months; glucose binds to red blood cells. Red blood cells live for approximately 120 days.

The ADA recently redefined pre-diabetes from an A1C of 6% to 5.7%.

The glucose meter you use is for daily readings. This meter reads the amount of blood sugar at the moment you took the reading.

Bayer does sell an A1C 2 test meter kit. I've read and personally experienced at least 1% higher reading than the lab result.

I have a few more questions. I do plan on going to the dr on wednesday but was wondering:
I am having the shaking, sweating and a little fog headed, but my glucose level with the meter says 95. I have not gotten a reading any lower than 76 since having the reading of 71 the first day.
Is it possible to have low blood sugar still or do you think it might be something else?
