I also get awful cramps to the point I cannot function, and I'll cry at almost anything. The crying I can handle, but I'm too busy to let cramps slow me down! I have tried many pain relievers, but nothing has worked. From over the counter tylenol, midol, pamprin, to prescription Celebrex and Tramadol. None have these have even taken the edge off! I'm too scared to be on birth control since it messes with your hormone levels. I guess I'm not much help, but I feel your pain (almost literally).

I think I would go insane if I had a period every month. Probably was in the past! My PMDD is lasting about 3 weeks usually since I only have it four times a year now. The anti-depressant helps a lot. I take it daily and it has helped with general anxiety.

I don't have bad cramping. I'm so sorry you do! That's so hard! A heating pad really works!! Or using those applied heating pads that last for 8 hours- like thermacare.

I haven't had any adverse reactions to BC, and there are lots of different types. Your doc could advise you on some if you are scared of hormones, and there are some alterntives to different antidepressants too.

One of the side effects I have is a low sex drive. Caused some funk in our marriage, but we are successfully working through it. Now DH's type 2 diabetes is trying to get under control and it seems like that's affecting his sex drive. Can't win huh?!
