Default Colitis from antibiotics

I am curious if anyone developed this consequence as a part of their treatment? Please share symptoms and how the condition was treated.

I haven't developed it but I work in a GI office and sometimes when you are on a strong antibiotic or on a couple different ones in a short period of time, it can cause something called C. Diff or Clostridium difficile. Typically you would have diarrhea (foul odor) and abdominal pain. Its usually treated with Cipro and Flagyl. Let me know if you have any other questions. HTH!!

I'm dealing with this right now. I'm having a colonoscopy on tues. To check for damage.

I never got diarhea with it. My doc found c-diff in a stool sample.

He seems to think I've had it for years unknowingly...

I'm thinking he's wrong and I might have colon cancer.

You should consider taking the probiotic Saccharomyces boulardii.

Google it.

I use "Sustenex" carried at Wags. $17/30 tabs with Q's on it's website.
It is the only Probiotic that has "Bacillus Coagulans".
I finish the antibiotics first and then take the Sustenex.

I had my appendix removed on Easter sunday then sent home with the wrong antibiotic. the one they gave me destroyed the GOOD bactereia as well as the bad. Returned to the hosp. the next day with stomach pain and vomiting. Hospitalized again with C. Difficile. Spent 9 days in the hosp. . I felt really HORRIBLE and everyone who came to see me said I looked like death warmed over. LOL but its really not funny at all - its a serious illness. I had no appetite, no energy, and missed 2 1/2 weeks of work.

I have Crohn's Disease, and I learned the hard way that I cannot take antibiotics. I was given some after I got my wisdom teeth out, and it immediately sent me into a flare. If you already had underlying colitis, being on an antibiotic can make it flare up.
