Not sure. Think it is a GI absorbency issue. There are different kinds of zinc supplements. We have to get this from behind the counter at pharmacy. This is zinc sulfate. Thanks for mentioning about the side effect of having too much.

Also, I have a B12 deficiency and take monthly injections. Prior to finding this out I had lots of nerve pain/tingling. With the shots all is well. I haven't had my Vit D levels checked. I will at next appt.

thank you for posting that. Is the vitamin D something you can get at walgreens/walmart/meijer or is it a precription strength?

I'm finding there is a big difference between D2 & D3, but I can't tell by the D I purchsed at the drug store exactly which D they are...I "think" D3 is clearly marked & D2 is just labeled D. I have to get out & look closer. D2 does not absorb as well as D3.

interesting info... after I had DS I was asked at the hospital to participate in a clinical study on vitamin d + breastfeeding. I remember in the papers it involved taking 10,000 IU vit D/ day <or placebo>and going in for bloodwork each month(also giving milk samples and the baby's urine would be tested) and also to go in for evaluation for depression. I declined to participate only because I was afraid taking an excess of vitD could possibly cause a kidney stone(not sure if that is a possible cause of stones but I had one while pregnant w/dd and that was enough for me to try very hard to avoid them... LOL)
