Well, during a regular cholesterol screening, my D count (they've never done it before, something new) was 5.4!!!! I was shocked! No wonder I'm tired all the time

So he put me on 50,000 IU once a week for 10 weeks and take daily 2,000IU D3.

We'll see how that helps. I'm just shocked because I do get outside daily, but I guess not enough!

He'll be rechecking in January to see how the numbers look.

A quick note for those who have had weight loss surgery, this is one of the tests you HAVE to keep up on. My D was low and I have increased and have to take 50,000 IU twice day to keep it up. Also I am reading in medical journals that the 'recommended daily amount" as well as where your levels should be is LOW for everyone. I don't absorb D so I take very high doses, but can still tell when I miss a dose. EVERYONE should really have their D levels checked annually! :)

    This is an interesting topic!

I am glad I read this. Thank you all for posting.
A few months ago, I was put on a vit d2 pill to take once a week 50,000 ! I only took and and plan on starting them again. I just dismissed them. I didn't realize how serious low vitamin d levels were. When I was tested I was at a level of 4!
I have so many other problems with my health. One major one being Thryoid problems. They are now thinking I have graves disease.
Should I take magnesium and vitamin d3 as well? Thanks for anyones input.

I was diagnosed w/low D last year, and with hypothyroid a month ago. I guess there's a connection.
