all I CAN THINK OF IS THROAT SPRAY TO NUMB IT.
Watch taking too much ibuprofin. He can OD on it
Hope he feels better soon, cuz I feel like poop, too.
ETA: Don't swallow the the throat spray. You have to spit it out like mouthwash.
Our DD has strep, as well as my husband. DD's been on antibiotics for over 24 hours now, and felt tremendously better today. DH started getting achy last night, couldn't sleep through the night, and went to our doctor this morning. It was confirmed strep. He's plain miserable - fever, chills, all-over muscle and body aches, sore throat, etc. He's popping Ibuprofen around the clock and has taken 3 warm baths today.
Anything I can do to help him? I've told him things like salt water gargles, hot drinks or soup, etc. I read that herbs like lavender, rosemary, thyme etc can help with relaxation. I don't have any on hand tonight, though.
I just feel bad because he's my tough soldier and is feeling so sick!

I feel for you everyone in the house has had step but me...they are all on antibiotics and feeling better so just know it wont last much longer...hope you dont get it! I know im praying I don't!!!!
Loving to Shop in Nampa, ID.
You can give him 200-800 mg of motrin instead of tylenol. Motrin (ibuprofin) will reduce the fever AND help with the aches and pains.
OP, I hope the doc prescribed antibiotics for your dh once Strep was confirmed? If left untreated (with antibiotics), strep can lead to other complications. Of course, if he has been prescribed antibiotics, remember to finish the entire course even if he feels better (I'm sure you know that!:smile77:)
As for relief of his symptoms, others have given good suggestions.......throat spray, lozenges, taking motrin (not too much though!) or tylenol for the fever/pain. Also, frequent gargling with warm salty water helps. Eat and drink warm/hot foods and try to avoid cold foods/drinks.
HTH!
I love hot orange juice... just sip it like tea.. the warm sugar coats throat. microwave a mug full for about 90 seconds... test it first to see if it is hot enough or to hot. and have him take small sips
He's better! His fever broke on Saturday morning (after he soaked the couch with sweat, poor guy). His throat is still painful, but the aches are gone. He drank lots of hot tea over the weekend.

Another good option is to break up one aspirin in warm water and gargle with it. It's instant pain relief. Tastes like crap but works!!
Someone last night told me that hot Dr Pepper works wonders????? Who knew!? Haven't tried that one! lol
