I have seen this before, but it didn't mention cake mixes. WOW!
I will warn people about it.
Thanks, pokey
I received this in an email, I hope it is OK to post here. It checks out on snopes.com.
A student at HBHS had pancakes this week and it almost became fatal.
His Mom (registered nurse) made him pancakes, dropped him off at school
and headed to play tennis. She never takes her cell phone on the
court but did this time and her son called to say he washaving
trouble breathing. She told him to go to the nurse immediately
and proceeded to call school and alert the nurse. The nurse called
theparamedics and they were there in 3 minutes and worked
on the boy all the way to the hospital. He came so close to dying.
Evidently this ismore common then I ever knew. Check the
expiration dates on packages like pancakes and cake mixes that
have yeast which over time develop spores. Apparently, the mold
that forms in old mixes can be toxic!Throw away ALL OUTDATED
pancake mix, Bisquick, brownie mixes etc you have in your home.
You can check this website....... http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/pancake.asp
P. S. You might want to tell this to your children, grandchildren,
nephews, nieces and anyone else who keeps these types ofmixes
in the cupboard.

PRAYER- The World's greatest Wireless Connection
Its only if you have a mold allergy - says right on snopes that if you don't have a mold allergy, you needn't worry.
Also, mixes that are packaged within plastic inside a box are safe no matter the age, until its opened. The mold spores need to have access to the mix to get in there.
Make sure to read the entire Snopes article.
I don't think I want to take that chance. I have always been weary of expiration dates. I am sure I have tossed out hundreds of dollars worth of perfect find things because of expi dates. I would rather be safe than sorry.
Please Help me saveon the things I need here!
if you can say a prayer for my family!
I must confess . . . I am a Duggar Lover
Also, pancake and cake mixes do not use yeast. They use baking powder as leavening, yeast would take too long to rise, like in bread.
