Default Wisdom Teeth Extraction!

So I have an appt. to get all four taken out on March 2nd.

I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips =)

Diet, how to manage the pain (other than the vicodin heh), etc.

On the diet, I did a search and here's what I've found so far:

Mashed taters, pudding, jello, apple sauce, spaghetti o's...

I want more variety though! I love all of those things, but if I'm going to be eating it 24/howevermanydays, I'll probably be sick of it hehe.

:shrug7:

No help here. I will just say I hope your teeth getting taken out is as easy as mine. I barely took any of the meds. I slept the day of, all day, and was out looking for a job the very next day. Very little pain!

You can not eat/drink anything that will require you to suck/slurp. Anything with a straw or making that type of movement in your month is a big no-no.

Default Re: Wisdom Teeth Extraction!

I have had quite a few teeth pulled including wisdom. Personally, the pain wasn't too bad. I used tylenol/motrin. Ibuprophin (Motrin) is a anti-inflammatory, so I would personally use that.
As for food, anything soft.
Ice Cream
Cottage Cheese
soups
applesauce
eggs
canned soft vegies (creamed corn, peas, etc)
popscicles
milkshakes
HTH out some
good luck

Default Re: Wisdom Teeth Extraction!

Are your wisdom teeth impacted? All 4 of mine were impacted, and they use a bit different of a procedure than just pulling them out. For impacted teeth they actually have to break the tooth up into small pieces and pull them out that way. Anyways, I was out of commission for about a week. I was very swollen and my mouth was tender. It took several weeks before I could eat solid foods- or bite down in the back on solid foods. I ended up getting so stir crazy I went to the mall on my loratabs (no I didn't drive there lol).

Anyways these are the types of things I ate:
Ice Cream
Sherbet
Yogurt
Jello
Pudding
Chicken Broth or Bouillon
Campbells Chicken Noodle Soup (the noodles were just soft enough)
Rice (later in the week)
Protein Shakes by the spoonful (since I was lacking in protein and dragging that week)
Cottage Cheese
Apple Sauce
Mashed Potatoes

I think thats about it. It's been a few years though. GOOD LUCK!!

Hmm.. Well I lost the receipt they gave me that stated which were impacted and what not. I know 2 are "full bony" and 2 are "partial bony"

One of them is coming in horizontally!

Here's a pic of my xray lol:

Default Re: Wisdom Teeth Extraction!

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth done along with 4 other teeth so that they could put my braces in when I was 21. Not all of my wisdom teeth were all the way in either. I had it done on a Friday and was at work on Monday. They did have to go back and put a drain in one, but other than that, it wasn't too bad. That was, however when I discovered that I'm just flat out allergic to codeine and shouldn't have it anymore.

Since you're having all 4 done, they'll probably knock you out. Someone needs to drive you home. You'll have a few days of tylenol, codeine/vicodin, whatever and some milkshakes and soft foods, then you should be good to go. As an extra note, a hamburger from McDonalds is actually a pretty soft food. If you can chew at all, you can get through one of those.

Good luck!

Next time you're born, be part Native American. I only grew 2 wisdom teeth.

On a more serious note, pureed soups are good!
