Default Tired of all the doctor appointments

I'm really tired of peeing in a cup after making an hour drive to the doctor!
I'm 4 mths pregnant and have been at the Dr. every two weeks. Everyone I talk to says this is unnecessary. Every 2 weeks I am at my OB for an ultrasound or check or whatever, and then two weeks after at the Hospital getting ultrasound and tests. They keep coming up with reasons why - my cervix issues (I don't have any), it's because you're having twins (I'm not)...I've had it!!!!

My OB's office keeps telling me they don't do these tests in the office - all they are doing is ultrasounds, nothing special, and measuring my cervix - for what I don't know, I have no issues with my cervix that they should be checking for. Finally I put my foot down. I went to the hospital last night and they want me back in 3 weeks to measure me again. I said NO! They had no late appointments that week and I can't keep taking off work every 2 weeks. Oh well, no measurement next month.

That sounds really weird, why can't they give you a straight answer?? You shouldn't be going that much at all if you aren't high risk. Are they internally checking you everytime??? I would think that would be really dangerous for a risk of infection.

Can you change Drs or demand to see your chart?! OR BOTH!! I don't think I'd keep that Dr up b/c something sounds really fishy about that

Cin, unless you are high rish you should only be going once a month until you are in 7 months (every 2 weeks) then in your 9th months it's weekly. I'd be asking for some straight answers.

I'm actually on hold for the hospital now lol...I want to know!!!

I do have a heart shaped uterus however I have been told it's not very bad and no need to worry, except towards the end I may need a C-section. So then why do I need to keep going? I just checked my insurance site and I have to pay a copay for every hospital trip too! WTH!!!!!

If someone does not give me an answer I need to look for a new doctor. The sad part is, I loved my doctor until I got pregnant. Now he is being such a tool, I dont need this stress.

Yikes! I'm sorry! I'm expecting for 8/4/09 and I have my first doctor's appointment next week. I HATE hospitals and I HATE going to the doctor, so I'm pretty scared that something will make me have to go all the time.

Please let us know after you talk to them, we all want to know you're okay! :-)

I had to leave a message to the nurse to call me back. I was nice but I basically said that no one will give me an answer, and I'm getting concerned that there may be some sort of mix-up. Particularly because last night they had my Due date wrong, told me I had been there 3 times instead of 2. I am hoping they call back. I'm just scared to go looking for another doctor right now :(

That is the reason, rt there. You have a heart shaped uterus. Have you googled & researched this? They are watching for signs of premature labor (checking your cervix). You have a 15% greater risk of this. Try to go with what they're telling you. It's a rather be safe than sorry situation.

Would you rather be put in the hospital for 3 months? (I was)
Going to the appt every 2 weeks doesn't seem so bad.
Please don't stress over having to go twice a month.

    You are right :)

I just got a call back from the nurse. She was very nice. She said that because of the uterus, and also because I have one kidney (born that way) they need to check if the cervix is opening and also check the organs. I asked her if this is something that will need to be done the entire pregnancy, and she said no, unless there is a problem, the next appointment will be it until later on when they need to check the growth.

I understand that, and even though its a hike there, it's worth it. I just wanted SOMEONE to explain to me what they are doing and why.
