I have a completel full blown dentist phobia. I have to go today for the cleaning in about 30 minutes. My teeth are so sensitive that they have to give me that gas, and it still doesn't do much for me. I have been sick already this morning thinking about it and my stomach is a mess. I go every six months without fail but I'm still scared to death of the pain. My teeth are healthy -- just my gums are receding and the nerves are hypersensitive. The dentist says mine are the most sensitive teeth he's ever worked with.

My kids are going to be there with me so I can't look like I'm scared. Pray for me!!

I will and I understand how you feel. I'm that way too. I don't hate the dentist, I just hate his job. I get so nervous when I have to go. And yes I have to have gas when my teeth are cleaned too. Does do much but it does help me relax a little.

Will pray for you as well. See if he will give you adavan (sp?). I took it before chemo b/c it never failed on the day I was to have the treatment, I would get nauseous(sp) and be miserible. This really helped and might help you.

Thanks for your honesty about dental anxiety. I thought I was a loner! I too have nitrous for any dental work and a sedative the morning of the appt as well (someone else drives me to the appt)

Well, I'm back. I have to go on Friday for a FILLING. I know this really sounds stupid and I know that kids get their teeth filled without a flinch but for me this is a MAJOR deal. I have a retainer I wear at night since I got my braces off -- the dentist wants me to wear it during the appointment so that it will cover up the rest of my teeth and the water, etc won't splash on them. He will deaden everything but UGH I don't want to go.....
