Default Ugh, I sprained my ankle!!!

I was having a Yard Sale this Saturday with my stockpile and I it was a madhouse! I was rushing to get everything out and I missed a step and went down. My ankle went one way and I went the other. Not a pretty sight! The wierd thing was that I got right up and felt fine and went back to selling. By the time the sale was over I had time to rest and that was when the Pain came! I looked down and realized that my ankle was swollen a bit. By today it was bruised, swollen and very tight and painful. No insurance means no quick trips to the ER. I am going to try to Ice it and elevate it and wrap it and see what happens.

What ticks me off is that I am on a tennis team and this will definately put me out of the game for a while. :( I love playing tennis! I feel like such an idiot!

I have never had a sprain before so I am not sure what to expect. Any advice?

you might want to take an NSAID, like motrin, advil, or aleve for about a week. This will also help with the inflammation.

It's also ok to wrap the ankle with an ace bandage when you first start walking again, but don't wear it all the time or your muscles will become dependent on it and you will be more prone to resprains.

Thank you! I am trying to keep off of it but with a 2 year old, that is very hard to do. :(
