Nurse BPPV -- anyone ever have this before?

I just found out I have it... Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo...

Apparently something is out of place in my inner ear. The doctor says he usually sends the patient to physical therapy and they do a bunch of swift movements involving the head. But I have a neck injury and neither of us want to take the risks associated with that.

He says the only other alternative is to hope it goes away on its own. But I found exercises on the internet one can do at home for 2-3 weeks. Has anyone tried these?

This has been going on for two or three weeks, and one day it was so bad I couldn't leave the house.

I've had it.

I did the exercises and they really helped. A year or so later I got it again and they helped again.

I was diagnosed with vertigo on 11 June but it went away after 2 days. They said that it might or might not go away, and I got a prescription. I never took it. Just used it to get my CVS $25 gift card! Ha!

I had BPV several years ago - It affected all my coordination and made me feel like I was on a rollercoaster! But it wasn't fun!
The physical therapy helped a ton, and I was over it within a few weeks! They just had to get the loose little "crystal" back in the right place.

Welcome to the BVVP Club! I was diagnosed with it last Dec after being dizzy for 3 straight weeks. It was a relief just to know that it had a name and other people had it too! Since then it's come and gone numerous times. Sometimes I'm dizzy and fuzzy-headed for a couple days at a time. Sometimes I just have a vague feeling of dizziness that doesn't affect me much. Doing the head exercises shown on that website do seem to help me. Also I try not to lay on my affected side (right ear) as that seems to bring the symptoms on. I was hoping it would go away completely but have come to the realization that this just may be something that I live with the rest of my life. I've always had ear problems and motion sickness so I figure this is just an extension of that. I can handle it, there sure are worse things to have! Good luck to everyone else here who has it.
