I find it almost sad that theya re being hush hush right now about a list of all of the stores that will be closing.

Well, I had better get in and make that return I am sitting on....it is not conveniently close so I wasn't in a hurry. I think we only have the one around here, it is not in the best location, the store is old and the few times I have been in I have been just about the only customer.

What's so hush hush? 239 stores. 139 turned over to liquidators who showed up in each store yesterday. The 100 remaining stores are listed on store locator on CompUSA website. Rest are history.

OMG I'd better get my rebates in incase some come from CompUSA-- i have FIVE total and have done two-- better get clipping the upc's!!

Some stores are reopend (or opening) under new ownership. Those that are were bought up by Tiger Direct - which is a company I used to do a ton of business with when I worked in IT (5 years ago...for 7 years). I know at least one is back open in Orlando. Not sure if they will be doing all the freebie deals or not. I've only seen once newspaper ad and it was just grand opening specials. If they run the stores anything like the run the catalog business the CS will improve big time.

Yes, they have reopened 16 stores now, with plans of converting ALL tiger direct stores to Compusa. Tigerdirect's canadian devision should not be affected. Tigerdirect.com will run as sister store to compusa.com Stores reopening have been primarily in the Florida region with I want to say a few in Texas.

All the CompUSA stores in the Chicago area and nearby suburbs closed last year.
I don't know if there are any left in Illinois now.
