Staples started taking them for $3.00 each in Feb or March 2009.
They also established a limit, but forgot what it is.

They took my Canon ones a couple of weeks ago. Even took some Office Depot ones I had!!

I tried the refill cartriges on my Canon, they are a little messy to refill. I bought them at OfficeMax, they come in three bottles of black. I was able to use 1 bottle to fill 2 1/2 cartriges. And although the printing is not as crisp as the original cartridges its ok for me since I use my printer to mostly print coupons.

Box of 3 small ink bottles cost $ 15.99. I'll let you know how long they last.

Printer ink, is priced quite expensively by printer manufactuers and is known as a "captive product". Much like razor cartridges are more expensive than the razor itself. They rationalize that you'll pay the high cost once you have invested in the product (printer). This is when knock-offs and refill replacements come into the market.

I have refilled my Canon cartridges extensively and it works great. If you buy quality ink the images will be just as good as OEM. I get mine from this seller and have always had good results. I save hundreds of dollars a year and I can allow my kids to print whatever they want without worrying about the cost.
