O.K. drum roll, please,,,,,,,,,,I went today and asked Office depot in person, assuming they would probably say no, when to my surprise I got an emphatic YES!!! . You could have blown me over with a feather.

I actually said "Are you sure, you will accept competitor's gift cards or gift certificates?" He just laughed (in a good way) and again said Yes, we do!

WOW awesome, I wonder how they know how much is on them. Glad they do that now, 9 years ago they didn't. Good find!

I have just started doing the staples recycling program and am expecting a huge Staples rewards check sometime this month in Jan for all my recycling in December. like 250 bucks but it's called a rewards check? does anyone know if they accept that at office depot? I ask cuz i really want to join it together with my Office depot worklife rewards card when i get that sometime within the next 60 days.

So, did you get your Staples rewards check of $250+? (And might I add, that was some mad recycling you did in December!) Did you find out yet if Office Depot will take your Staples rewards check? I wonder how Office Depot gets reimbursed for something like that, or if they just take a loss.

Yes it was a good bit of excerise running to staples and back to do my recycling each day. and no it got sent out on the 15th so should be here around the 28th of jan to the first of feb generally about 2 weeks. Plus i am still waiting on my worklife rewards cards from office depot. as for how i wouldn't know but reading this forums posting gives me hope and thus why i asked after seeing the basic same idea thing.

Just called the office depot here in Katy, TX and they said they do not honor competitor gift cards or gift certs.. he said they only honor the coupons and the ads. I asked specifically about the cartridge reward check and he said no, they will not take that. :(

I still need to figure out how to utilize all these staples rewards checks.

I'm up to my ears in paper, pens, tape, etc.

(I collect carts for the cub scouts, so I need to figure out how to turn them into cash for the unit, essentially). Used to buy my office supplies there and turn the cash over to the pack, but, well, I'm now overflowing!

Use the staples rewards checks to buy MIR items, then after you cash the rebate check, turn the money over to your cub scouts group?
