I put the final touches on a Christmas gift basket for my sister-in-law today. The total amount spent on the basket and items inside is under $20.00. The items from Bath & Body Works were from my own stockpile of items that I've purchased over the last few years at their semi-annual sales, so I didn't actually spend any money on them this year. The hand towels were purchased last year and have been in my gift closet waiting for a home. The total amount that I actually spent on items purchased during the 2009 calendar year is $7.54, and $3.50 of that was for the basket. I trimmed the top of the cello wrap with scrapbook scissors.

BringontheWonder very nice... i am doing baskets for all my girls this christmas also... i did get lots of clearanced and free makeup and lip glosses , nail polish...as well as the deodorants, body washes.. lotions... and i'll add any other pampering items i collected all yr long... hair doo dads, brushes . the hair dryers from walgreens for about 3.00 woo hoo! they will love it...i just need to find some cheap baskets... i am going to look at our dollar tree for them and the wrap... thanks everyone for the pics and ideas..

BringontheWonder, you DO bring on the wonder! As in, what a wonderful Christmas gift for your SIL! And it's only October, so you are really ahead of the game! LOL! Thank you for sharing not only the pics, but the little details, like the contents and prices. You did great with the prices and came up with a nice assortment of goodies for your SIL!

No picture on this, but last year I used WAGS reuseable green or tan shopping bags as gift bags and then tailored the contents to the recipient -- one gal who is low on funds I bought the CFL light bulbs when WAGS had them BOGO -- she was delighted and is still replacing bulbs with the CFLs I gave her! Also gave her some HBA in the bag.

Another retired lady likes natural/organic/recycled items so when WAGS had Tom's of Maine items with RR I bought her deodorant, toothpaste and mouthwash, added a couple of other items like laundry detergent, etc. This is the same friend that we have a long standing joke that I buy her TP for her BD. She is on the bare minimum social security, so has been extremely pleased with such gifts.

There could be a warm winter's night with a snuggie, cocoa mix, tea, shortbread or gingerbread cookies, peppermints, slipper sox.

Right now the holiday towels have come out with matching mitts, add a scented candle, PB from the stockpile, a can of pumpkin, baking chips, nuts, sprinkles, coconut, spices and/or extracts, etc. Add some recipes and a stirrer.

The Christmas Bizarre @ the Church is Sat December 5th so I thought I should get started on making my Gift baskets. Tell me what you think about this one. It has 4 different Glade products all of the same scent. I got the glade products for free from Target for doing there promo. You can read my target post for more info on that. I purchased the Bucket @ Target for $1. I bought a bunch of them using the Target gift cards I earned from doing the Glade deal. The only real true OOP expense I have Is the cello wrap which I purchased @ the $1. 1 roll will make 2 of these baskets. Retail it would cost someone $11.50 to purchase the items and make this gift. I was thinking about selling them for $6 each. Do you think people will buy them. I think I would have before my frugal days. I'm going to make a little sign for my table that says's think about the people who you may want to give a little something too, like a teacher, mail man, hairdresser. I do need to buy some ribbon. I stole that pink one out of Jess's room.

What do you think about this one. The tub again was $1 @ Target. I also bought the cookie cutters, Roller pin and the spatula's there. I thought they were $1 each but they were really $2.50 each. Ouch. I did notice that the $1 store has similar ones for $1 each. This basket would retail @ about $12.50. However I was thinking about selling it for $6.

I'm really looking for some ideas here. Please let me know your thoughts.
