Army family here at Fort Knox. I love the commissary!! I have actually gotten some free things there because it is so cheap and the internet coupons are so good. I will shop at Kroger also only for the double coupons on deals I know will be cheaper there.

i live about 45 minutes away from a commisary and i didn't think it was worth my while to make the trip. now, that i've actually checked the thread out, though...i may be changing my tune.

how do we know if a commisary adds a surcharge to the end of an order or not? do they all do this? i'm thinking that would be a deal killer..

the 5% surcharge is standard for all commissaries.

I live 5 minutes from our commissary. I do 95% of my shopping there. I have been shopping at the commissary for over 24 years.

How did you do that? That is impressive. I don't think I have enough room in my house for $318 of commissary groceries. You must have filled two carts completely! You go girl! I am going to have to check out this site more for commissary deals. I must not be looking in the right forum. I just take my coupons with me of what i need and shop. I still do great but you ROCK.

I also shop at the commissary for groceries, CONUS. I'm at Ft. Campbell, KY, anyone else. I find that Kroger is the highest priced overall in our area, then Walmart and the commissary beats both out overall everytime. With four kids, I don't find it benefits me to run all over town BUT if there was a sale on diapers/pull up, etc. and I have a coupon, I'm heading to that store. Also, Ft. Campbell, KY sits on the TN/KY border, so you have the option of Walmart in KY where there is no food tax or Walmart in TN where the food tax is 6% with the sales. Any with any suggestions, please let me know.

Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX. I am former active duty AF now a SAHM with a husband in the AF. If it weren't for the commissary, I don't know what I'd do...HEB is the main grocery store here. And they are not coupon friendly. Walmart is our back up..and Target as well (super small produce and bakery sections.) I would say 90-95% of our grocery shopping is done through Lackland.
