Yep, I'm in the same boat. We were told the machines here in AK couldn't handle expired ones. Ah well.

I voted Conus, do.

I do shop at the commissary when I can-it's about 45 minutes from me, though.

My hubby is a NG Chaplain, so that's why we don't live near any bases. As a matter of fact, the commissary I do shop at is like Air Force or something, not even Army, and it's technically in another state, but it's the closest one to me.

The commissary here is ALWAYS like 50% cheaper on any meat than I can get at any grocery store in my area, so I stock up on that when I go. I love that they take coupons, and think I could get a lot better deals there now that I am getting serious about couponing. It might actually make up for the gas to get there, lol.

I put I do shop at the commissary but its few and far between. We live over 30 miles from post so I only go if I'm already in the area. I get rather annoyed every time I go it seems. I'm big on fruit and I can never find good fruit there.

I voted conous, do not. The commissary is almost 3 hours from home, and I have not found that meny great deals unless there is a case sale, and they dont tell us in advance what the prices are! :(

We are CONUS and i LOVE shopping at the commissary. Granted, i do only live 2 miles from it, but still.
I was pleasently surprised the first time i went shopping there at how much i got for what i spent.

I shop as much as I can at our local commissary! Most of the time the prices are so much better than out in town but you have to keep your eyes wide open!

I don't like the commissary! I will buy my meat there but at least 75% of what I buy is cheaper at Wal-mart. I will say my kraft thick and creamy mac and cheese is cheaper there plus a few other things I am brand loyal on. However, there is not too many things! Sure they do have sales, but you never know when there is going to be a sale. They don't ad match, but the PX ad matches-- can some one explain that? Also I do not like the way the employees act and the bagers - when the teenagers are there! I get better treatment at Wal-mart. The people at Wal-mart are only making half as much, so I really don't get it! Sometimes I really want to fill one of those coment cards out!!!

I live Stateside and am a frequent shopper at my Commissary. I was a frequent shopper Overseas too because the stores downtown were MUCH higher. I rarely buy anything without a coupon and love the freedom of self checkout. On the few occasions that I have issues with coupons the cashiers are usually very helpful...especially if I give them a good coupon as a tip. I say that only because I had a number of Fresh Express coupons that were expiring in a few days and there was no way I would eat that much salad, so I gave the cashier my $2/2 coupon--she said she was going to use it for her lunch purchase.
For the poster who stocked up on Monistat...where do you donate that to? I can only wish you well if you have a valid need for that large a quantity.

I voted oconus and do shop at the commissary. I'm in Germany and the commissary is the ONLY place to shop. Anyone else have to shop exclusively at the commissary?

The Commissary is unable to price match b/c the grocery side of the Commissary has only a 1% markup and the Produce only has a 7% or less markup and both are only to cover the cost of salvage. They are not their to make a profit only to support those that do and have served and their dependents. The baggers are not hired by the Commissary to work there. THey do not work for Deca and if anyone were to have bagger complaints the best thing to do would probably be to contact the base Comander. It's dissapointing to hear someone complain about the Commissary when they feel like they are serving who they consider the most deserving.
