I'm a CONUS commissary shopper I stopped for a long time, but when I got good at knowing what things usually cost at other grocery stores, I could see that the regular price at my commissary was usually better than the sale prices at other stores. That was a long and confusing sentence I hope it made sense to somebody ;)

I voted that I do shop at commissary. But, I've cut down quite a bit. I may be the exception, but, a LOT of the things we buy are cheaper in other stores. The milk prices really burn me up. We buy organic and it is on average 60 cents more per 1/2 gal at the commissary.

I seldom shop at the commissary. I've found I get better deals with double coupons and sales at local grocery stores.

I do the majority of my shopping at the commissary but now that I am aware of the local grocery deals and how coupons can make them even better, I do some of my shopping at Giant and Safeway as well.

I do shop there but sometimes at our commisary it can be frustrating. A lot of times they are out of those things that we need. I have found that it is one of the most cheapest places to shop. I often note a .30 to .50 difference in prices from other stores.

I am conus and do a good bit of my shopping at the commissary; however, I do a good bit of shopping at other stores by combining sales and coupons. I only started shopping at the commissary again about a year ago. When my husband and I first joined the Army, we only shopped commissary a little bit (never enough open cashiers) then we moved to Hawaii, and you HAD to shop at the commissary. When we returned back to the mainland, at Ft Hood, I found it was almost as cheap and much closer just to go to Wal Mart and HEB. Now that I am learning to coupon, my whole perspective has channged. That is Thanks to a dear friend of mine who got me into HCW and couponing.

I almost can't afford to NOT shop at our Commissary. No grocery stores in our area double and their deals are only good occasionally. And, at least in my area, it doesn't seem the Commissary has been affected by the hike in food prices. Some things here and there are higher...like a lot of the dairy, but the other things are holding steady. So, on grocery shopping day, I shop the other deals in the area and then go to the commissary b/c I have memorized the prices there for the things we use and automatically know if I can get it cheaper there then downtown. We are in Cali though and just moved here..and I've heard that food prices in the stores are outrageous here anyway. So the Commissary it is.

I am not a dependent, but my mom shops there. I an TRYING to get her to coupon more, because she's going to be retiring in the next year or so, and I want her to be in the habit. It's an uphill battle. LOL

We tried really hard to babyproof our house, but somehow, a couple of them still got in.
