I am probally in the rong place but here goes anyway....i am looking for a base in Afghanistan or Iraq who is willing to recieve Xmas stockings for the troops.. I can cover 50 men and women gifts and goodies
Can anyone lead me in the right direction ??

Not sure if they handle such a request, but I adopted a soldier a couple months back and believe me, you could adopt one and send those to him/her and they would love playing Santa

It's been so much fun getting to know my soldier and sending him packages! And he shares with his buddies too

you can also see if mod sbp has a coupon contact there. she runs couponstotroops (you can find it on facebook or here in the expireds forum). send expireds to overseas military. i know one of her families just had to bring a dh home who got hurt there...

Please becareful what you post on open forums!! OPSEC still applies. If you have a question if something violates OPSEC contact your Ombudsman, FRG or FRO (depending on service). I would hate to see something happen to our service members and their families.

usmcwife07 i am a reconised non-profit ministry/charity, I assist military family overseas..I thought I would be nice and offer xmas stockings to a deserving unit to someone the HCW group for Afghanistan,,,I am insulted,, you made my offer look like some kind of threat.. I have neen doing this work for 6 years now ... my ministry is not a threat to any one.I withdraw my offer to any of the military service people...for Xmas stockings

I did not mean to come off as insulting or your offer as a threat. I know there are many people and organizations that send boxes to our troops overseas and help the families left behind. I know the donations that your organization gives out are very much appreciated. I have been around the military my whole life, I have seen families in need.
My post was a simple reminder to watch what people post due to OPSEC. My husband just came home from a deployment a couple months ago. The unit had some issues with OPSEC amongst the wives. My post was in response to a post on this thread that had the full address, name of the ship and how long they would be gone. I saw it and had my husband look at it to see if it violated OPSEC, which was questionable. We have several friends that are deployed right now and want all of them to come home safe to their families as well as all of the troops in the middle east.
I meant no offense to you and your organization in any way. I'm sorry that you took it that way. If you are in need of anything please let me know and I'll see what I can do.

I didn't post anything that wasn't published in our newspaper multiple times as well as listed online through various military and non military sources, USMCwife. My husband is a point of contact for these groups and has permission to post his address for this very reason. The next time you want to offend both a supporter of our military such as sugarfree, and a military family such as ours how about you do a little research first and ask some questions! You handled this very poorly.

OP if you don't find anything to help I can give you the address of a base in Afghanistan where a good friend of our family's was just sent for his second tour. My daughter talks to him on the phone fairly often as well so if you'd like us to try and find answers for you we'll be happy to ask him if he can help.

My post was not to offend anyone, at all. As I stated before, my response was to a post that has since been removed. As also stated before, my husband just came back from his 3rd 7mos deployment to Afghanistan. As my screen name suggests, I am a Marine wife; I have been through all 3 deployments with my husband. I understand the hardships that military families go through during deployments (before, during and after), with and without children.
The reason I stated what I did was because there are people who do not support our troops and I did not want them to receive hate mail while they are out war zones. When a full address, the area that the unit will be and how long they will be deployed is posted on an open forum, I get a bit antzy because of the people out there that would rather see harm to our troops. Plus the guys our troops are fighting are not stupid and could have found it
That is all. Nothing more. I showed the post to my husband and asked him if it violated OPSEC, he said it was questionable. I should have emailed the member who posted it instead of doing a post, my fault. My posts have not been to offend, but to explain. If anyone has anymore questions, please PM me.
If you still feel offended, I'm sorry. But at this point in time I have explained myself twice and have no clue what else to say, besides I should have kept my mouth shut. If everything has been approved through command, then its whatever. The times i have seen address posted online, it does have the full address, BUT no rank or name. Marine rules are different and that is what I have been going by, as well as being cautious to protect my husband and his unit. If everyone is getting mad at me for being cautious, then so be it.
