DoD Instruction 1330.17: http://www.dtic.mil/whs/directives/c...df/133017p.pdf
It is on the bottom of p. 31
Not to be a stickler or stick in the mud here... but, i've noticed that alot of these posts have exact prices for items and sale prices for items listed in them. It is against DoD regulations to disseminate that information to anyone who is not an authorized commissary shopper and this is a public forum.
Here's the rule directly quoted from Commissaries.com:
DoD Instruction 1330.17 prohibits the dissemination of commissary product prices in or on any media intended to leave the commissary store. Sharing of these prices or price lists with others not authorized to shop in the commissary, or sharing them with someone who intends to publish them in a manner inconsistent with DoD Instruction 1330.17 may be considered to be an abuse of commissary privileges and may subject the patron to the penalties outlined in the Instruction.
I just wanted to bring this up incase mods or HCW itself did not know this. While I love to have info about good deals at stores that I shop at. I don't want any one to get in unnecessary trouble.
Thanks

That DOD instruction is obviously outdated, as it states nothing with a specific dollar price can be able to be removed from the store...open up any of this month's commissary coupon books or coupon magazines, and you will see specific prices listed, and they are obviously not attached to the shelf or sales fixture.
Further, you can go to commissaries.com and gain access to many of the sale prices; plenty of other websites have also sprung up by and around the commissary that specifically gives prices.
Finally, notice that the section to which you are referring begins with the heading "Advertising."
"d. Advertising. DeCA may inform authorized patrons living on or off the installation of
facts about the commissary benefit, including accessibility, products and services available,
customer service ratings, and savings. Such communication may be made through established
military channels and all compensations systems. The Military Departments may disseminate
standard information at recruiting locations, basic training, and Service schools.
(1) Sales prices shall not be disseminated in media that can be removed from the store. Prices may be displayed on point of sale material affixed to the shelf. Advertising media may state a dollar or percentage amount off the price but shall not mention the actual price."
As we are not DECA, and our price book is not advertising for the commissary, and this entire section of the forum is meant only for authorized commissary shoppers, none of these apply to us.
Rest assured, HCW and the mods are very up to date on and in compliance with all DOD directives![]()

Ok. Well, I was trying to get this information to someone who has some power on this site like a mod, but if that's how you really feel about it then how about this:
You give me your name, address, phone number, what commissary you shop at and all the specific posts you've made where you put down an exact price for an item at the commissary and I'll report it to the DoD and DECA and if you don't lose your commissary privileges, then you can tell me you were right.
I've reported this thread for admin to view. Let's all play nice until we get an admin in here to view the thread. :)

Wow, why do people have to get so nasty? We are supposed to be helping each other out. I agree that we are not supposed to be posting commissary prices, but trying to get someones privileges revoked is just ugly.
Thank you Jacklynrobinson for your concern about us posting prices of items sold in the commissary. I have spoken to someone at DECA and it is fine.
If you ever need to contact a moderator or admin regarding an issue like this, please feel free to either private message me or send a request through our contact us page.
Threatening to report other members is not the best way to handle a situation like this if you are genuinely concerned that a rule is being broken.

Wow, I'm pretty certain you read my post with a tone of hostility which was not intended. I was simply pointing out the reasons why HCW is in fact in compliance and that there was no cause for concern. I regularly point all my commissary cashiers and the manager to HCW for tips to get started couponing, as I have at my own and my husband's previous duty stations. My experience with HCW is that they are *very* insistent that we all follow all the rules, and the Commissary moderator specifically posts updates to all DECA directives that apply to couponers, etc.--one of the reasons I choose to belong to HCW after all these years, rather than moving on to other coupon sites that have more local information or more active commissary boards. We are all here to help, and that was the spirit of my response; I apologize that you did not see it as such.
