COMMISSARY: Overage Discussion

I have not tried to order the pantene but was considering doing it this week. I did put in an order for the pert but haven't gotten them in yet. Will update if they come in. Someone did use the new schick coupons on 40 cases today but I don't know why he was able to. I saw him at the checkout but had to leave before I could ask the cashier but I heard him say that he got everyone, even deca to ok it. I am stumped because it said not to use on the 2 packs which he did and my store does not overlook that, I think he said our store checked with deca and deca checked with an attorney. I have no idea but am dying to find out.

Whoa!! What?? Please keep us updated on this situation! I know my store would turn them down in 2 second flat since they say "excludes 2 pack." I'd really like to know the logic behind taking them anyway.

Also 40 cases in one go??? That was one heck of a shop! The most I ever did at once was like 15 and that's because I kept ordering and they didn't come in until the very last day for Q redemption. I thought 15 was a crazy shopping trip!

Well, you won't believe this but here goes.I am at Ft. Sam. We have people that drive from Ft. Hood to do overage at our store, they do it at theirs also but they are getting more by hitting more commissaries. We also have to air force bases in San Antonio so I wouldn't doubt it if they go there also. They are the ones that started coming to our store, ordering 40-60 cases at a time and got vouchers instead of food. Well, about a month ago, they upped it a notch and started demanding cash, not vouchers. Well, now they have decided to get serious. I was at the registers yesterday when the third guy, one of three people from Ft. Hood came in. They cleared Ft. Hood out of schick then cleared us out. We had a lot stocked in the back because the last coupon had exclusions. Well, they got an attorney and then went to DECA. He came with a letter from the attorney and two letters from Deca and his receipt from Hood where they had allowed him to do this. His claim is that the coupon said "excludes travel and trial sizes" but no where on the product did it say that it was a travel or trial size so he said he should be able to use the coupon. They left with maybe 8-9000$ cash for the schick total. I then spoke to the manager and asked why Deca would allow it and they said that if the product does not state that it is a travel or trial size then that exclusion does not apply. Hence, schick's next coupons will say excludes 2pack. So apparently if the item does not claim that it is a travel or trial size we can use the coupons on it. I told you the greed at my commissary is getting out of hand. Well, actually every time I posted, it was about someone from Hood doing something at our commissary. They always get 40-60 cases. They always did which is why I thought things would end after they got that much in vouchers but then they just really went nuts. I can not even imagine, how much cash and vouchers they have by now. They are hitting several commissaries and have been all year. WOW. My manager did call Deca and spent maybe 3 hours verifying it all was okay before they let them do it, and Deca said ok. I can't wait to see what they do next!

Agree. My commissary doesn't hassle me about coupons at all, but they do read them very carefully. I don't really mind, I'm always using the correct q so if they want to spend a few minutes verifying I can wait. But people like that make me sick. I recently medically retired, we PCS'd from Hawaii (losing a TON of COLA) and then had a surprise when I got pg. So now dh and I are looking at raising 3 kids on a jr. enlisted salary + 30%--I coupon so that we can still have some money left over for saving and fun stuff. People like this really will ruin it for all of us. I wish their home commissaries would find something that they were doing wrong and have their commissary privileges revoked.

Don't most coupons state "No cash value"? It seems to me that giving cash for overage violates that policy.

This is sickening. How do people live with themselves? Some people's values are so... well, they just don't have any.

You know what's worse, is that Schick is going to be TICKED off by this, I would think. I would not be suprised if Schick decides to take legal action (against DECA? the overage abusers?). And DECA will have no choice but to discontinue allowing overage all together, to protect themselves from being sued.

I don't understand some people. I also don't understand why DECA is giving vouchers and especially don't understand why they would give money back. Seems like they could put an end to that, which might in turn prevent this kind of abuse.

Guess we know the reason why Schick's new coupon specifically excludes the 2 pack.

I agree with everyone...this is sickening and sad. Our Commissaries are basically "not for profit" - so I don't understand how someone can sit and think it is okay for them to take advantage of Deca. Would they walk into a Goodwill or other non-profit agency and make such demands? Seriously...benefits remain benefits for those who understand that they shouldn't be taken for granted. Once you start viewing it as an entitlement, then it becomes abuse ~ and abused privledges get taken away FAST. Grrr...

...and don't get me started on that "attorney" who is helping these people. What a fraud. I bet he/she never served a single day in the Military but he's first in line to help someone else take extreme advantage of Military benefits.

I know some of people on this thread have a faith-based view on life...so to those, I suggest that we should pray against this action and for these people.
