HOT COMMISSARY: Cashier and acting manager refused my overage!!!

I'm sooo frustrated with people who don't even know their own coupon policies!! I bought 10 Reach Dental Flosses, so each one should have been .25 in overages. I know that it's only $2.50, but still!! What do you do in this situation?

By the way, this was at the Hunter Army Airfield commissary. I'm so sick of people making me look like a fool for couponing!

I printed out a coupon of their coupon policy and carry it with me in the store. When I had this issue I pulled out the policy and turned to the section that clearly stated that if the coupon price was higher than the cost of the item that the customer is to receive the FULL value of the coupon. The cashier resumed scanning all of my coupons WITH overage.

Reaping In Abundance,
Kay

Agreed. If you have a store that is not properly trained, keep the coupon policy on hand.

Also, use the email form on commissaries.com to complain, complain, complain! You will get a response and it is less likely to happen again. More often than not, the store manager will make sure all involved are retrained.

i would first email the store director to allow this to be resolved at their level. if they do not respond or respond that there is not overage policy, email DECA to resolve the issue.

i echo what kay and tiva said - print and have the policy w/ you every shopping trip.

Dear Ms. Rivers,

Thank you for accessing the Defense Commissary Agency's web site with your
concern. I apologize for any inconvenience you experienced at the Hunter
Commissary.

You are correct; DeCA Directive 40-6, Change 1, dated April 2, 2009, chapter
7, paragraph 7-4n states, "Valid coupons will be entered at the value stated
on the coupons. If the value of the coupon exceeds the cost of the product,
the customer will be given the full value of the coupon." Based on the
information you provided, if the item you were purchasing met all the
redemption requirements stipulated on the coupon, you should have received
the full face value of the coupon even though the purchase price was less.

I am copying Ms. Ann Marie Wyatt, Hunter Store Director, on this e-mail; I
am confident she will ensure all customer service department personnel and
managers are briefed on DeCA's policy concerning coupons with a value
greater than the purchase price of the item.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to clarify this issue. I encourage
you to continue taking advantage of your commissary benefit and the 30
percent plus overall savings. If you need assistance in the future, please
do not hesitate to contact Ms. Wyatt or any member of her management staff
at (912) 315-5219.

Sincerely,

Danna S. Eldridge

Just be really careful that your not targeted by your cashiers and managers because since I complained at my commissary I've noticed that they all now know my first name (no way they would know this since I strictly do debit and my name is not listed on my transactions) and they scrutinize my coupons several times over. It hacks them off because I'm right and know their policy better than they do. But I continue to do things right and reap the benefits, just be watchful of them after you've complained. Good luck.
