Default Commissary Produce Prices ...

OT...but what has happened to the price of produce?! I'm sure the price varies throughout the country, but the prices for some items at my commissary have skyrocketed. The price of white onion has tripled and pretty close to the same for green peppers.

I went to WalMart after the commissary and paid $1+ less for one pepper.

I kwym. Green peppers are $2.99 lb. @ my store. I've passed them up the past couple weeks because of price.

Green peppers here are $3.89/lb, which would have worked out to $1.90 each. I went to WalMart and paid 78 cents for same.

Green Peppers are $5.99/lb here. OUCH.

I have seen the Fisher's instock frequently, and they were still .89 today at mine.

I got lots of great deals today...but 99% expireds, so don't count for this thread! LOL

Oh, and about the peppers. If you are a Sam's Club member I was able to get a bag of 6 bell peppers (yellow, orange red, 2 of each kind) for 5.98. They were very good and I actually ended up sharing the bag with my mom. In my area I can usually find green pepper for .99 but red/yellow/orange run at least $3 each!!
