Default COMMISSARY coupon problem at the comsy?

my commissary has been ridiculous lately. they spend so much time examining every coupon it holds up the line and my time. they say that it is because they are under investigation for coupon use. they are not sure if it is every store, random, or just them. is anyone else experiencing this?

The last 2 times I went I experienced the same thing. One cashier told me that they have been getting in trouble for taking expired coupons. The other said that people haven't been checking to make sure the amount of products bought matches the coupon as in a B3G1. Thought it was just me!!

my experience varies by cashier and has only been more difficult of late because we have new cashiers. They still don't scrutinize them carefully unless they beep (which I understand, e.g., "Did you buy this product?" and I help them remember what I bought).

I go through the self-check and have not noticed any increased scrutiny. Except, that about a month ago, the cashier is supposed to initial all coupons prior to scanning.

Yep, the same thing's going on at Luke AFB, AZ.
Really slows the checkout process down to a crawl for sure .....

last week my cashier took every Q and then counted the items. The first 7 Q she takes and hands me 1 back saying you have only 6, I said there should be 7, but I believed her and not myself, should have just walked to the cart and find my wax paper, but I didn't.After I got home I saw it said on the receipt 7x wax paper, and sure enough there were 7 in the bag. I will check next time as soon as the receipt is printed. I had 77 Q and I had the item for all of them, as I always do. It was annoying the baggers. We had to fish for the items back out and it took forever. But I just patiently smile there.

I wonder if they would object if we did NOT hand over all of our coupons before starting to check out, but held onto them instead, and then loaded the counter as follows: 24 Glade candles (for example), handing over the 24 coupons at the time she checks them out, then the next item and all the coupons for that item, and so on until everything was checked out and the coupons reconciled to the number of items of each type.

Would they allow it? If not, why should they be allowed not to?

i've only had one or two cashiers scan the coupon immediately following the item(s). i didn't ask them to do it this way...it was just the way they did it. i actually think this is a good method since there is no doubt the qualifying item was purchased for the coupon used.

i don't see any legitimate reason why a cashier would decline to use this method if the customer requested. you could either 1) hand the coupons over after each item is scanned 2) stack the coupons in the order in which the items are on the belt or 3) lay the coupon on each item.

They are beginning to scrutinize coupons a lot more. As I can understand it, this is for their protection and our own. I get the impression that they have been losing a lot of money with cashiers screwing up coupon redemption and they are trying to prevent this. A GREAT example of this can be see on AFC where one lady got over $300 in overage that she shouldn't even get due to cashier error.

My store is also insistent on scanning each and every coupon now. Before they would do a quantity for like coupons, but I guess it caused a lot of problems and people got in trouble. With the $10/3 Advantage Q I have to get a scan and key turn for every single one I use. I've talked to cashier supervisors and the store manager and they say there is no way around it. It holds things up significantly, but now I just have to plan that time into my shopping schedule.

I've never asked about scanning as we go along. I don't see how it would speed the process in my situation, but may work for others.

won't speed it up, would perhaps alleviate cashier asking "did you buy x qty of x product"...
