COMMISSARY: HELP nedded with special order question

as much as I have read about pacing a SO, is if DECA sells the item anywhere you can order. Or am I wrong? Well I placed a SO for schick quatrro for women disposable and schick quatrro for men disp.(my comi does not carry this one, but women's does, just they are never on the shelf. I called and the lady tells me I will se what I can do? She calls back saying she can not order mens razors because the system does not let her, that is not even there for our Comi to order from???? She said maybe you should go to a bigger Comi and get them there.
Correct me if I;m wrong but doesn't the policy say they can order from another Comi or even outside but then you are obligated to buy the whole case. Or should I call another COMI and have them send the case of whatever to my comi, can you do that?I just want to find out and maybe educate my people in the COMI what can they do or not do. They basically said since we do not carry the item we can not order it!

if you gave them a UPC# of an item that is carried in any store, then they should be able to order it by the case. what UPC did you give them?

did you talk to the store director? if not, you can either call or email him/her to inquire.

I'm having trouble with getting any special order. They say it has to do with whether their level of store is authorized to order any certain item. Funny thing is, they cannot even seem to get in special orders for items they actually do stock everyday. They say the order is "accepted" but that the item never comes in their deliveries. Are they blowing smoke? My cynical self says affirmative.

There have been a few items that are sold by Deca that I have not been able to get in. I am usually told that the warehouse we get our orders from does not stock it.

As far as not getting items in when they are accepted, it all depends on what the warehouse puts on the truck. I've had several times where they will tell my Grocery Dept something is going to be there and it ends up being left off the final invoice.

Overall, it helps if you have a good employee that is willing to follow up. My current lady is awesome, but I'm moving so we'll see what I end up with next.

Be persistent. I've had to "train" my store about ordering, and now they are total pros. If anyone ever has the misfortune of being sent to Holloman AFB, I have laid the groundwork for you!! :-D
