    Default Commissary IP won't scan

I'm new to this, so bear with me....

I went in to my commissary today and tried to use the $1 off Kraft BBQ IPs. They would not scan and the cashier told me they would not accept them b/c they don't scan. It happened with the BBQ coupons and 3 other coupons. Is there anything I can do? Am I just out of luck? I missed out on $6.75 worth of coupons because of it.

How do you have your printer set up? Is it set to draft, normal or best?? I've found that if I draft coupons (lowest ink setting) they will not scan at all. Make sure yours is set to normal. Other than that I have no idea why your coupons would not be scanning. My cashiers have said the same thing to me, that if they do not scan it's not accepted. I hope you get it worked out.

DECA policy is to not accept if IP does not scan. try using higher print resolution.

hmmm.... they were printed normally (not draft) and I'm pretty sure I used some other coupons that were printed at the same time. I'll have to look at my reciept. Looking at the coupons, there doesn't seem to be any reason they wouldn't scan i.e. print quality. My printer gives me 5 options for print quality: draft, text, text & photo, photo, and best photo. It is set to text & photo. Do you think I need better than that? I don't want to waste ink.

Were they overage qs? I've had cashiers that a coupon "isn't scanning", when in fact they don't how to deal with the register prompt for overage.

I agree if its an overage coupon even if its only a penny the cashier has to push it through manually. I have had a beeping problem for awhile now and I am fortunate that I dont have crazy cashiers at my commissary although last time i went she insisted on having the coupons Before we started so she could pull the coupon out as we went. I had 101 coupons that day (i actually had 185 but the commissary was out of alot of stuff that day) at least half were for free or free with overage coupons.

Some were and some weren't. If it is a problem with overage, what should I tell them to do?

Well, I decided to try again with the $1 IP Kraft BBQ coupons since I had some .75 ones from the inserts that I could use as a back up and it would still be a good deal. Lo and behold they worked with no problem. I'm guessing the first cashier didn't know what she was doing.

I'd still love to know what to tell them do if the situation come up again.

They have to override the coupon. There's a button they have to press because the register puts up a prompt explaining that the coupon is more than the item.

Yeah like the other posters said. If it beeps, that means it IS scanning, but in the case of overage the register beeps just to ask the cashier to override it or adjust the amount. If it doesnt make any noise AT ALL then that is when it isnt scanning. I have had this happen before on perfectly printed coupons and they had to keep waving it in front of the scanner until finally it takes.
