Default COMMISSARY: OT - need advice - DD's friend going into Marines

    Hi,
I'm really sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but I thought you might be able to help me.
DD's best guy friend since kindergarten is going into the Marines June 18.
They are graduating high school June 15.
Any ideas of anything that could be a graduation/going away gift? I dont know if they are allowed to take personal belongings.
ChrisI cant see trades so PM

You can get her a Boot Camp Care Kit (something my family made up but loads of families really do )

Personal Items In convienent carry all, Toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo etc

Things you might not realize she will need
Flip Flops for the shower (athletes foot ick)
Mirror, there will be times she has no access to one
TP or Wipes (yes we had a HARD time keeping this in stock) not to mention some required one roll per person per week.
Some kind of small light not necessarily a flashlight I Loved my little push thing that lit up my whole closet we had to be up, beds made, dressed, and showered at 515 am. LIghts on was not until 5am. Lots of stuff done in the dark
Small Organizer for her closet that can hold personal item carry all and maybe socks
GOOD laundry detergent we spent alot of time rolling in the mud
They may have a thing where you send off your laundry to be done but this costs a fee.
I hope this helped these were things I was grateful for

Agreed, he will get a list of things from his recruiter that he needs to take with. My MIL did this up for my DH has his "gift".

At least in AF Basic Training, you can take personal belongings, but most of them get locked up until you graduate. The TI's will also use them as fodder to pick on the recruits too, so DH was happy not to have too much there.
