Wow, you are a nicer person that I am.
If my bill were $40 more than I had planned for it to be, you would bet that I wouldn't walk out of there without fixing the tab. (I carry a copy of the DECA directive when I go commissary shopping, BTW)
Had a new cashier the other day, who scrutinized every single coupon I had, not in a huffy, annoyed way, but just in a way you could tell she wanted to cover her butt. So she pushed half of the overage coupons through, and the ones that beeped she set aside. Well, at the end she had to ask a supervisor three times about the amount and overage, and the supervisor told her to just price adjust...and I mentioned the June, 2007 output about how DeCa will accept overage and she says "I don't want the overage to mess up my totals." I then mention the commissary will get reimbursed, and I've never had overage problems before, ever. She just smiles at me. So, needless to say, what should have been a $75 bill was $117. She was so sweet so I couldn't get mad, I've just never had a cashier refuse to push them through due to their totals getting messed up...that's why the coupons stay in their drawer, so at the end they can see why the totals don't "match up". Hmm...whatever lol, I told her I only come in once a month so she won't have to worry about me telling her about her policies anymore...bad thing is, I have to go in and use up some coupons that are expiring this weekend that WILL give overage again!! LOL hope she's not working. Thanks for letting me babble!![]()

You were right and she was wrong! You absolutely deserve that extra $40 according to their policies, and that's a lot of money!
Larissa, I am getting ink TODAY (man alive this has been a rough week without it lol), printing out the necessary pages, and never going to the commissary without it again, thank you for the tip! Should that be my goal then, to have them pay me for groceries this time, $40 LOL? That would be sweet...
That would be ideal. LOL
But yeah, that's a chunk of change. I get it fixed if it's off more than a couple of bucks. I had something from the clearance shelves ring up wrong a couple of weeks ago and made my mom stay with DS in the car while I got my $12 back.
Don't leave until it's fixed!!!

if you were denied overage (coupon adjusted down to item price), email or call your store director to explain to him/her what happened and request the difference of overage denied.
this very same scenario happened to me one weekend when the mgr on duty did not know the directive so i was shorted $20 something. i emailed my director and asked to either 1) see the new policy or 2) a refund of the amount i was shorted. he asked me to come in on a date/time at which time he apologized and gave me a $50 comm gift cert for my troubles.

I agree. Call and get your money. It's yours.
I've quabbled over 4 bucks before...I'd sure as heck do so over $40.
Good luck!
Holy moly... you should go back to customer service and explain what happened. I mean, not only did you get shorted your overage... but you had to buy a bunch of products you wouldn't have bought otherwise (I'm assuming here). Print out the directive and bring it in. And smile :)

Thank you gals SOOOOOOOOOO much!! I will do that, in fact, since I'm going in tomorrow anyway, I will personally speak to the store director, glad I save receipts! The store directive is sitting here now (yaaay, so happy to have ink again!), absolutely thrilled I posted now, $40 really is a lot, especially with our food goal this year.
Where do I get commissary directive, thanx.
