At my store at least, the special order is placed through Customer Service, but is forwarded to the Grocery Department. 99% of the time I'm made to drop my order off at the CS window, and go and wait there to pick it up. Usually they'll page grocery, and eventually they'll dig my stuff out of the back and bring it up for me. The one thing that frustrates me about my store is they won't even start looking for it until I'm in the store waiting. I've tried call 15 mins before I get there just to get them started and it's always a waste.
One thing I do every so often though, is to call the Grocery Dept directly to get the status of my order. On our system is Option #9 on the automated line. Sometimes they answer, usually not. If they don't, then I'll call CS and ask for a page. I've tried to learn most of their names. I've noticed my pages actually get answered if I ask for "Frank" etc.
I will warn you that it can be a royal pain to get ahold of Grocery! There have been days when I've called five or six times and gotten nothing. Sometimes I'll ask for a call back and it will take days. I've learned to call often when I need them and leave voicemails if they fail to call back, just so they know who I am. So far it's worked because over the past few months communication has improved. :-D They must be pretty busy at my store.
Oh, and yes, I had a shopping cart FULL of groceries to cover my overage. I also had a lot of regular MFC as well, just just the razor Qs. I get my cashier busy!!
