I saved 103%!

I had a huge blessing today. I went to the comm to get some drinks. DH is on a special diet for awhile, and is already grouchy, and not having "good" stuff to drink was only adding to the problem. I went shopping thinking I had about $28 in the bank (eek!), and wanted to get enough to tide us over until payday. Little did I know that I actually had an unauthorized charge come through for $26, bringing my balance to almost zero!! So, thankfully, everything worked out the way it did at the store. Having a decline after ringing everything through would have been really humiliating.

I ended up spending .87! (Oh, plus the $1 tip I gave my bagger)

Here's what I got:
16 - 32oz Powerade
4 - Sobe Lifewater
1 - 64oz Apple Juice (for baby!)
10- Olay Age Defying Soap Bars (2 per pack)
3 - KY

Here's how I did it:
8 - $1/2 Powerade
4 - .50/1 Life Water
10 - $2/1 Olay
3 - $3/1 KY

The soap was only 1.48 per pack, so between that and the KY I got 8.68 in overage. I wish I had more Olay coupons, I don't feel quite so dirty buying lots of soap!

I thank God for small miracles like this. Baby and Boy were both out of stuff to drink, and this was such a big help!

YOU DID GREAT!!!

You are blessed to not pay tax. The 9% tax is killing me....even on free stuff I have to pay it and sometimes I feel like I'm not getting much of a bargain if it's something I don't really want.

So....GOOD FOR YOU!!! woo hoo!!!

Nope, no tax, but we do pay a 5% surcharge. My subtotal was negative, so it actually ate into the surcharge for me.

In NM, the sales tax is around 7.25 (varies on county) but there is no tax on food items. So, even when I do shop off base, at least I don't have tax to worry about.

The soap and KY will probably get donated to local charities as well. :-D

I remember the surcharge, evil thing sometimes when it was more than the local taxes back in the 80s. Its good to hear things worked out as I can definitely remember being there back when I was a kid. House is bare but its not quite payday yet.

See, this is my problem. It's almost silly since food tax is only 3%, but nonfood tax is 7%. If you buy enough things, it adds up, even free. I never seem to find overage when I need it!!

I can't wait until I can get into the 100% club. I have never saved 100% or more. I always end up at like 65 or 70 which is still really good. Cuz i get fruit and stuff then too nad I never have coupons for fruit.

Default Post Your Commissary Shopping Brags Here

I went yesterday to my commissary and the total before coupons was $613.xx. Surcharge was $30.03, but I only paid a total of $38.xx. I got a case of KY, Case of Monistat, 48 Excedrin Back & body, 63 Purells, 20 SOLO Plates. Then lots of frozen, meats, and produce and dog food. 98% savings! I haven't paid anything significant for groceries since I learned about these deals on HCW. I am so gratefull for this site!
