Might be a stupid question.

So I am new to this whole coupon thing! I have been shopping at the commissary for years now, but have never used a coupon unless it has been from one of those tear strips in the store. Will the commissary accept all coupons, like ones printed offline and such?

When I check out, the checkout clerks always ask if I have coupons and then look at me crazy when I say I don't. ( I usually spend at least 200 twice a month, which I would really like to cut down on!)

IMO, you found the best place to find deals both on and off base/post!

in order to learn how to coupon, i encourage you to read, read, then read some more. especially the couponing 101 type threads. click on the link in my sigline "New to HCW, start here".

Above all, be patient, it takes time and effort to learn and start seeing the savings.

Many stores have their own forum at HCW. Read the FAQs and weekly deals for the stores in your area. Read the commissary FAQs, April deals and recurring free/overage deals threads.

the commissary takes any manfacturer coupon that does not have a store logo on it. this includes internet printables; however, the printable cannot be for a "free item".

sources for sunday insert paper coupons are friends, family, neighbors, dumpster diving, trading, and coupon clipping services. sources for nonsunday insert coupons are wine/beer isles, store displays and trading.

when the value of a manf coupon exceeds the item price, DECA's policy is to give the full coupon value. DECA policy is in a sticky on the main page of the commissary forum.
