Re: Question for VA commissary shoppers If you are using the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel the Little Creek commissary is the closest to your route. You would take the first exit after you get off the Bridge Tunnel and make a right. Just continue straight and the signs will direct you to base. You will go in through the gate off of Independence and once on base you make the first right. The commissary and the exchange will be visible to you shortly after you make the right. The commissary does not have alcohol, but the exchange does. LC commissary is coupon friendly and you will have no problems using coupons that are over the amount. At times I do have to request the front end supervisor (some cashiers don't like to see you get anything free), but all of the supervisors and all of the managers know the couponing policies and as long as you are right, they wont fight it. Also, they have no problems placing special orders for you.
What type of place are you looking for for the kids? I know they have a McDonald's on base. To get to it you would go straight when you go through the gate instead of turning left. There is also a food court in the exchange. If he leaves the base through the same gate he came in and makes a right there is a Taco Bell. I know there is a Cinema Cafe on Independence. It is off base and it will take about 10 minutes to get there from the base, but I don't know what their movie schedule is like. There is also Pembroke Mall off Independence. My kids are older, so I am afraid I don't really know what kinds of things to look for for younger kids. If you could give me an idea of what types of things to look for I can give you a better list. If you have any other questions about this commissary, don't hesitate to ask. |
