Thumbs Down Michaels Policy for Returns - Not happy

I have been shopping here forever, and am finally so frustrated, I am done with them. The fact that if I just want to run in and do a quick return, and must wait in line with 27 shoppers is ridiculous. Is it not possible to have someone working at the Customer Service register helping people and if there is a check-out line, take someone from there when no one is returning an item?

And now even with a receipt, I have to pull out my driver's license and let them scan it. I haven't refused yet, not sure what they would do if I did, refuse to give me my money?

Also a few weeks ago, I wanted to return an item (total $7.98) that was over 60 days. The return policy on the bak of my receipt clearly stated I could return. However, with a receipt, they wanted to give me only the lowest selling price of the item (they still carried them - little glass rocks you put in the bottom of vases). They said they have new receipts with the new policy. I stated that I had a receipt that did not have that policy and they needed to honor the price paid. After speaking with a manager, she did an over-ride and gave me the full price.

I am seriously done. I am writing to corporate and they will no longer have my business. I think it's enough they ask for zip codes and if I have a receipt I see no reason for my driver's license. Is there some fraud with fake receipts out there I don't know about. Ugh!!

I only ever go to Michael's to use the 40 or 50% off coupons. It's always such a hassle to check out even with just one item. I just don't think customer service is high on their list.

Sorry you had such a bad experience.

And Target also asks for driver's license when you return something (or at least they used to). I don't know why they ask for a drivers license especially if you have a receipt.
