I went to Michaels today and bought the K & co paper stack called wild saffron. The price was unmarked, so I was totally surprised when they rang it up and it was only 1 cent!!! I went back and bought two more. These are really cute papers. It's a stack of 36 double sided cardstock.
hey, so this has happened to be recently too. At 2 different stores, the first clearence item that was scanned came up 1 cent. They were both scrapbooking items. They were both marked like 7.99 and 5.99. I can't really explain it, but was really excited for the extra deal!
I was told when something scans 1 cent that it means it is suppose to be shipped out of the store or thrown away or something. I don't remember who told me that...lol.

Yes, you're correct. My best friend was getting married and found a bunch of wedding stuff that scanned 1 cent. Michael's refused to sell it to her, saying it was supposed to be "salvaged" or pitched in the trash. She called and complained to the manager because there was an entire display of the stuff, so it's not like one package of something got missed. It was a huge cardboard rack of items. The manager was nice enough to let her purchase the stuff because it was out for sale but he said their normal policy is not to sell things that ring up at a penny. I don't see how that can possibly be kosher with consumer laws, but that's Michael's, I guess. :shrug7:
