QUESTION Question about $3 coupon for a cheaper item

How exactly will this work? I've got a non-ipo coupon for $3 off an item that costs $1. There is no spot to specify a lower amount. They will get reimbursed the full $3 from the mfg.

Will it auto adjust down or does it depend if they look at it or what?

non-ipo? Whenever I use a coupon that is more than the item price it is reduced automatically.

Wrong terminology, sorry. Not a printed coupon.

That is what I wondered. I don't understand how they can justify that when they will collect the full amount, but I understand the reasoning in general.

I don't know for sure that they do get face value. I think they have to submit proof of sale and that would show the purchase price, it's possible that the manufacturer would refuse to reimburse more than that.

Even if they do reimburse face value to the store there isn't much you can do about not getting it yourself other than writing a letter or email protesting Meijer's Coupon Policy. But then their policy is pretty standard. The only store that I know of that allows overage is Walmart, but getting them to honor their own policy is just as difficult.
